Our Story and Services

For us, retirement planning means more than providing our clients with investment advice. It means helping them maintain the financial independence they've worked their whole lives to achieve. It means striving to ensure they have the means to pursue what's most important to them. And it means understanding them as people with unique goals, values, and circumstances that determine the strategies we develop on their behalf.

Our consultative process begins with an in-depth discussion of your current finances and future objectives. We'll address issues you might have overlooked that can have a significant impact on your ability to retire as planned. Finally, we'll determine how we can help you adjust your investment strategy as necessary to accommodate changing conditions and meet any unforeseen expenses and income demands that may arise during retirement.

Our Process

The foundation of The Bison Group service is our holistic financial planning process. We begin every relationship getting a thorough understanding of our client's total financial picture: their investments, cash management, and retirement plans, and most importantly their goals and values. From there, we begin designing a comprehensive financial plan and managing a portfolio strategy that aligns with those goals.

Our in-depth financial planning process begins with:
    Icon Image
    Discovery & Goals Analysis
We begin with a conversation in order to fully understand you, your family, and your current financial situation. We then discuss your future investment goals, liquidity needs, retirement plans, estate and legacy planning strategies, and finally your values.
    Icon Image
    Evaluate & Implement
At this point, the team begins to implement a strategy based on your short-term and long-term objectives. We use our extensive knowledge in portfolio management, risk management in tandem with the firm's world class resources in cash management and lending solutions as well as alternative investment platforms.
    Icon Image
    Ongoing Communication
Continuing the conversation allows us to ensure that your current goals are top of mind for our team when implementing our wealth management strategies on your behalf. We provide white-glove service for all of our clients so you can rest easy knowing that we are always here for you every step of the way.

    Ongoing Review
As soon as we develop your financial plan and portfolio strategy we adopt these plans to our quarterly monitoring system to ensure your plan is staying on track.

Meet The Bison Group

About Gregory G. Collins

After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, Greg returned to work for the family business that his grandfather and father founded in 1973. He served in various roles from finance, accounting, and overall management of the property. While assisting with the sale of the property in 2006, Greg discovered his passion for the capital markets. Greg entered a Financial Planning program at Florida State in 2007 to further his knowledge and started his career in the securities industry in 2008 at Waddell and Reed. It was at Waddell and Reed where Greg completed the Series 7, 66 and insurance exams and began building his wealth management practice. In January of 2009, Greg joined Citigroup Smith Barney, which later became Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, as a Financial Advisor.

Over the past 16 years, he has continued to expand his knowledge by obtaining additional designations; Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS), Portfolio Manager, Financial Planning Specialist, Financial Wellness Director and most notably, Corporate Retirement Director. This designation allows The Bison Group to help serve plan sponsors and participants, backed by Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, one of the largest, most established wealth management firms in the world.

Outside of the office, Greg enjoys playing tennis and golf, attending college football games and most importantly, spending time with his wife, Natalie and son, Huddson.

About Steven B. Kirkland

Steven began his career as a Financial Advisor at the investment firm Everen Securities after graduating from Texas A&M University in December of 1997. It was during his short time at Everen that Steven gained his series and insurance licenses and was offered an opportunity to join the Smith Barney office in Houston, TX as an advisor on the Corporate Client Group team. Steven and the team primarily focused on 401k plans, endowments and foundations as well as individual wealth clients- the experience and knowledge he gained on this team was invaluable.

In June of 2006, Steven made the decision to go down the path of management and took a role in New York with the firm in a management training position. After two years in New York, he became the Sales Manager for the Tulsa, OK complex with responsibility for Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Wichita, KS. In January of 2011 Steven was appointed the Branch Manager of the entire Oklahoma City market and eventually took on responsibility of most of Oklahoma and Arkansas. After 10+ years as the manager in OKC, Steven was approached to join a team and begin working directly with clients again. In January of 2022, he made the move out of management and back into the role of Financial Advisor.

It has been a thrill for Steven to be back building relationships with the team's clients. He believes that the white glove service in the execution of every financial plan and investment portfolio is what sets the Bison Group apart.

Steven and his wife, whom he graduated high school and college with, have been married since 2001 and have two daughters. They can often be found travelling the country cheering both girls on as they currently run cross country and track for the University of Arkansas. The entire family enjoys running as well as snow skiing, being on the lake, and playing golf.
