About Larry Garcia
I am proud to be a founding partner of the Pacific Wealth Management Group at Morgan Stanley since our team’s inception in 2003. With over 25 years of industry experience, I lead financial and estate planning strategies for PWMG as both a Family Wealth Director and Private Wealth Advisor. In working with clients, I often reference Steven Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People as we strive to “begin with the end in mind” and “seek first to understand then to be understood.” We help our clients envision a holistic picture of their lives in order to identify their unique priorities. From there, we can develop a comprehensive financial plan and framework to evaluate multiple strategies to implement, monitor and achieve their goals over time. We are fortunate to work with high net worth families who prioritize multi-generational succession and planned giving, executives of publicly traded companies, and founders of privately held corporations. We also coordinate with our clients’ professional advocates (CPAs, attorneys, investment bankers, etc) to ensure alignment as their planning needs evolve over time.
Larry is a Private Wealth Advisor, Family Wealth Director and founding partner of the Pacific Wealth Management Group at Morgan Stanley. With more than 25 years of industry experience, Larry leads PWMG’s financial planning practice which encompasses a broad range of services from retirement cash flow planning to business succession and estate planning strategies. Larry takes special care in establishing a big picture view of a client’s personal balance sheet and often works closely with the client’s accountant, attorneys and insurance professionals to create a customized set of integrated solutions to help achieve their life and legacy goals.
With an interest in business and law, Larry attended Santa Clara University with a goal of attending law school. While at Santa Clara, Larry had the opportunity to play collegiate volleyball for both Santa Clara University and the University of London. Upon graduating with a degree in Economics, Larrys career took a different path, enabling him to pair his love of finance and law with his strong organizational skills. In 1998, he became a Financial Advisor at Piper Jaffray, the beginning of a long and successful career in wealth management.
When Piper Jaffray was acquired by UBS PaineWebber in 2002, Larry was introduced to his current business partners whom eventually formed The Pacific Wealth Management Group. Together, the team moved to Morgan Stanley in 2008. Ironically, much of Larry’s work today involves helping clients solve complex estate and tax planning matters, issues that bring him back to his college days studying law and finance.
Over the course of his career, Larry has achieved several industry designations including Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA), and Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA). He has also earned important credentials at Morgan Stanley including Senior Investment Management Analyst and Family Wealth Director. These certifications demonstrate Larry’s commitment to ongoing education and the highest levels of professional expertise.
Originally from San Diego, Larry now calls Kirkland his home where he lives with his wife, Kelley, their two daughters, Ryan and Logan, and two rescue dogs, Kevin and Watson. Larry also enjoys staying active by playing beach volleyball, surfing and an occasional stint at Karaoke. He is also the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach for Holy Names Academy High School where he has the unique opportunity to teach young women the “Game of Life” through sports.
