    Multigenerational Wealth
In a 20-year study of high-net-worth families, it has been observed that only 30% had successful wealth transitions. The main reason for these transition failures was a breakdown of communications and trust within the family. Multigenerational planning goes beyond the creation of estate planning documents. To increase the likelihood of a successful transfer, families need to discuss their values, define their legacy, and create agency for future generations. The plan is not effective unless it is communicated. Meet The Pacific Wealth Management Group

About Dale Miller

As co-founder and managing partner of The Pacific Wealth Management Group, Dale brings a lifetime of experience to his roles as Managing Director, Corporate Client Director, and Family Wealth Director for Morgan Stanley. He has shaped the team’s strategic vision with an emphasis on business succession planning and executive financial services. Dale has a rare depth of knowledge in wealth management and trading, having transacted more than $20 billion of client securities over the past 25 years. He has also been recognized nationally for decades as a top performing advisor. Most recently, Forbes magazine named him to their Best-in-State Wealth Advisors in 2023 and Barron’s similarly included Dale in their 1000 Top US Advisors. Both publications also ranked him as the top advisor in his state for 2023.

Dale began his career in Washington D.C. in 1991, initially as an investment banker and then as an institutional bond trader with a small firm on the west coast. He transitioned to working with individual clients in the late 1990s after moving to the Seattle area and working with the founders of several technology companies, clients he proudly continues to serve today. He also co-founded his own tech start-up which he later sold to a venture capital firm. These early experiences led to a successful career helping business owners and executives manage their wealth through all of life’s personal and professional milestones – growing wealth, minimizing taxes, creating estate planning strategies, and working through family dynamics. This work is ideally done prior to an IPO, merger, or other transaction that can create significant generational wealth, but continues for all clients.

In 2003, Dale founded The Pacific Wealth Management Group with a strong focus on planning-based decisions. Today, the team has nearly two dozen wealth management and banking professionals who bring a wide range of advanced solutions to our clients. For example, these services include art banking services, advanced estate planning, private banking services, private aviation financing, corporate executive liquidity planning, and alternative investments.

Dale believes balance is vital to a happy life. In addition to a busy family life, he loves fly fishing, woodworking, and gardening. He is the author of Sleeping Like a Baby: Investing in Volatile Markets (1998) and is currently working on a new book about inequality and government policy. Over the years Dale has actively served his community by volunteering with youth groups, leadership in his religious community, serving on the boards of directors for nonprofit organizations, mentoring college students at several universities, and working as a volunteer teacher in the local school district. Originally from Moscow, Idaho, Dale now lives on a mountain near there with Kari, his wife of more than three decades who is a published author and attorney. Together they enjoy spending time with their seven children and a granddaughter.

About Larry Garcia

I am proud to be a founding partner of the Pacific Wealth Management Group at Morgan Stanley since our team’s inception in 2003. With over 25 years of industry experience, I lead financial and estate planning strategies for PWMG as both a Family Wealth Director and Private Wealth Advisor. In working with clients, I often reference Steven Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People as we strive to “begin with the end in mind” and “seek first to understand then to be understood.” We help our clients envision a holistic picture of their lives in order to identify their unique priorities. From there, we can develop a comprehensive financial plan and framework to evaluate multiple strategies to implement, monitor and achieve their goals over time. We are fortunate to work with high net worth families who prioritize multi-generational succession and planned giving, executives of publicly traded companies, and founders of privately held corporations. We also coordinate with our clients’ professional advocates (CPAs, attorneys, investment bankers, etc) to ensure alignment as their planning needs evolve over time.

Larry is a Private Wealth Advisor, Family Wealth Director and founding partner of the Pacific Wealth Management Group at Morgan Stanley. With more than 25 years of industry experience, Larry leads PWMG’s financial planning practice which encompasses a broad range of services from retirement cash flow planning to business succession and estate planning strategies. Larry takes special care in establishing a big picture view of a client’s personal balance sheet and often works closely with the client’s accountant, attorneys and insurance professionals to create a customized set of integrated solutions to help achieve their life and legacy goals.
With an interest in business and law, Larry attended Santa Clara University with a goal of attending law school. While at Santa Clara, Larry had the opportunity to play collegiate volleyball for both Santa Clara University and the University of London. Upon graduating with a degree in Economics, Larrys career took a different path, enabling him to pair his love of finance and law with his strong organizational skills. In 1998, he became a Financial Advisor at Piper Jaffray, the beginning of a long and successful career in wealth management.

When Piper Jaffray was acquired by UBS PaineWebber in 2002, Larry was introduced to his current business partners whom eventually formed The Pacific Wealth Management Group. Together, the team moved to Morgan Stanley in 2008. Ironically, much of Larry’s work today involves helping clients solve complex estate and tax planning matters, issues that bring him back to his college days studying law and finance.

Over the course of his career, Larry has achieved several industry designations including Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA), and Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA). He has also earned important credentials at Morgan Stanley including Senior Investment Management Analyst and Family Wealth Director. These certifications demonstrate Larry’s commitment to ongoing education and the highest levels of professional expertise.

Originally from San Diego, Larry now calls Kirkland his home where he lives with his wife, Kelley, their two daughters, Ryan and Logan, and two rescue dogs, Kevin and Watson. Larry also enjoys staying active by playing beach volleyball, surfing and an occasional stint at Karaoke. He is also the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach for Holy Names Academy High School where he has the unique opportunity to teach young women the “Game of Life” through sports.

About Scott Gilbert

Scott is a Certified Investment Management Analyst®, Financial Advisor, and managing partner of The Pacific Wealth Management Group with more than 20 years of industry experience. He works closely with business owners and corporate executives to help them build and preserve their wealth. Scott also leads the group’s efforts in Mergers and Acquisitions of advisory practices, tax-efficient exit strategies for complex land and business assets, and the evaluation of risk and return profiles for successful private clients and nonprofit entities.

Born and raised in Haines, Alaska, Scott was introduced to the world of finance at the age of 16, when he began investing the money he earned from his summer job as a commercial salmon fisherman. Within two years, he saved enough to put a down payment on his own fishing boat and permit, which in turn allowed him to increase his savings significantly. Scott funded his and his sister’s college education with his investments and learned early in life that hard work – along with saving and investing – was the most effective way to achieve his goals.

Scott attended Linfield College to earn his B.S. degree in Marketing and Finance. While there, he subscribed to Investor’s Business Daily and learned about the various factors that influence the market’s ups and downs. Upon graduation, he began working at Equitable Life, which led to new and greater responsibilities at CitiGroup, Legg Mason, and LoCorr Funds. He joined The Pacific Wealth Management Group in 2017 for the opportunity to take the lessons he learned over the past 35 years and pair them with his time as a successful business owner to help clients make smart and tax-efficient decisions about their wealth.

Away from work, Scott enjoys time spent with his wife, Deborah, and their daughter, Anna, in their home on Mercer Island. An outdoor enthusiast, Scott’s favorite hobbies include hiking, mountaineering, saltwater big game fishing, and building custom sport fishing boats by hand. He spends considerable time supporting local and international causes that focus on land preservation and conservation, as well as medical missions in Central America. Scott also serves as the President of the Board at the Mercer Island Beach Club.
