About John P. Fitzpatrick
John P. Fitzpatrick is an Executive Director and Wealth Advisor at Morgan Stanley and the founding partner of the Fitzpatrick Capital Group. He is deeply dedicated to helping individual clients, their families and small businesses, realize their financial goals.
Over his 40 years in practice, John has built a strong reputation as a trusted and thoughtful advisor known for helping families meet their multigenerational financial objectives. He provides comprehensive private wealth management services with a concentration on estate planning strategies and tax efficient investing.
John is deeply involved in the community, serving as a member of the St. Charles Hospital Foundation Board for the past 21 years, in the role of Chairman for the last 18. He has served as a member of the Finance Board at Infant Jesus RCC for 13 years, serving as Co-Chairman of the Board for 9 years. He has previously held positions on the board of directors at Theater Three in Port Jefferson, as a member of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, and was on the board of directors of Jefferson's Ferry in Setauket, New York. John spent many years as a volunteer basketball coach for Infant Jesus CYO and Our Lady of Wisdom Regional School, and as a baseball and softball coach with Terryville Little League. In recognition for his service, John was awarded the St. Charles Hospital Theodore Roosevelt Award in 2010 and the prestigious Spirit of St. Charles Award in 2023.
John started his career at Paine Webber in 1984, spending 21 years at the firm as it transitioned to UBS Wealth Management, with a 5-year interlude at Prudential Securities, before joining Morgan Stanley in 2010. He graduated from Hauppauge High School in 1979 and the University of Buffalo in 1983. At UB, John was the captain of the Basketball team, becoming one of only four members of the 1,000 Point Club and ended his career as the all-time leader in games played. He graduated with a B.S. from the School of Business.
Mr. Fitzpatrick has been married to his wife Mary for 38 years and resides in Port Jefferson, New York. Together they have four daughters and one son, three sons-in-law, and five precious grandchildren, Grace, Amelia, Nora, Rosalie, and Sam.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Katelyn is committed to taking a comprehensive, detail-oriented approach to help her clients do just that. Having spent the beginning of her career in a sales and trading role, she is familiar with the compliance hurdles inherent to working in finance and knows how to work with them. She recognizes that many of her clients already have a deep knowledge of the market or product in which they specialize, and value an advisor who can take a big picture, unbiased approach to managing the moving pieces in their personal lives.
In her role on the team, Katelyn puts a dedicated focus on delivering elements that are unique to Morgan Stanley, in particular its extensive Alternatives platform (largest among the wire houses) and Total Tax 365 capabilities. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Katelyn spent 12 years on the trading floor at Citi, covering institutional clients in equity derivatives, convertible bonds and US rate products. She graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University with a major in Applied Economics & Management.
Katelyn is the oldest daughter of John Fitzpatrick, founding partner of the Fitzpatrick Capital Group, and the sister of Julie Murphy, CFA. She and her husband, Doug, recently moved to Long Island after over a decade in New York City and are learning to embrace the quirks of suburban life with their two young daughters and infant son.

These particularities have shaped the financial plan of her own family, given her husband Neal's career as a medical oncologist. She sees how hard her clients work for their patients and she strives to provide confidence to their financial lives so that they can focus their time and attention on being world-class physicians. Julie helps them maximize their earnings potential, preserve their assets, manage their debt, and plan appropriately for life outside of medicine - everything from saving for children's education to retirement and estate planning strategies.
