About Keith D Burner

After I graduated from George Mason University, I knew that I wanted a career where I could work with and help others. I chose to become a financial advisor, to help people achieve their critical financial goals, such as saving for retirement, building durable wealth, and saving for their children’s education. I am proud to say I’ve been in the financial services industry for thirty years, pursuing these goals.

With the Alexandria Group at Morgan Stanley, I use a personalized financial planning approach, because no two clients have the exact same needs. I believe that financial plans should not be "one size fits all" and work with clients to create a plan that is in line with their goals and current objectives. I believe thoughtful, well-balanced, and diversified asset allocation is the key to creating a plan that works for you.

When I am not working with clients I enjoy golf, tennis, and volunteering with local organizations like the Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Boys and Girls Club and Scouts, Troop 131. I live in Alexandria, Virginia with my wife, Mary, our son, Kyle and our dog Hank.

About Roger D Achtermann

For over 34 years, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with clients to help them reach their financial goals. I will strive to earn your trust by listening closely to your unique needs, learning about your situation, and tailoring investment strategies to help meet the challenges you face.

In recent years, I’ve made it a priority to expand my business to support my clients’ sense of social responsibility and charitable ambitions. My goal is to translate their good intentions into tailored investment strategies that align with their social values and philanthropic goals.

Throughout my career, I’ve completed extensive studies in investment analysis and financial planning. I earned my undergraduate degree with honors from Colgate University in 1982, followed by a master’s degree from Virginia Tech.

When I’m not helping clients, I enjoy hiking, biking, gardening, and birding. However, I most enjoy spending time with my wife of 36 years, Jo Anna; our adult sons, Ben and Sam; and our good friends.

I’ve learned that raising a family presents many joys, but it also creates many challenges and aspirations that depend on one’s finances. My personal experience combined with my professional training, the skill of our talented and dedicated team at The Alexandria Group at Morgan Stanley and the extensive resources of Morgan Stanley all serve as valuable assets for helping our clients navigate and meet their own challenges and goals.

8Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
