Life Navigator

One of our goals is to help our clients navigate various events and stages as they progress through life. Here, you will find a wide range of content and materials covering major milestones you might face in life.

    Business/Work
Wealth building begins with work. Whether you have a complex business arrangement (from starting to funding to exiting a business), are wondering how to best use the compensation and benefits you receive through your employer, are changing jobs, or have been wondering about tax-efficient strategies, it is important to effectively build your portfolio as you navigate through this stage of your life.

    Marriage
There are few events more exciting than when my client decides to align their life with the person they love. Of course, there are conversations you should have with your partner before tying the knot. One of the most important is about money—how you will make it, save it, spend it and invest it. In addition, helping fund an adult child’s wedding is a goal for many parents (and grandparents).
    Learn More
    Icon Image
    Birth
Welcoming a child into the family is a joyous occasion for everyone. It is critical to plan and prepare for the financial components that a new child introduces into their lives—everything from planning for the costs associated with birth, adoption or surrogacy; anticipating unexpected medical expenses; understanding gifting requirements; preparing for child care and planning for educational expenses.

    Icon Image
    Education
Education is a major investment and expense—one that often requires years of careful, advanced planning. As educational costs continue to rise, it is important to start early and plan for the range of educational expenses, such as tuition, extension programs and advanced professional training. Ways to save include 529 plans, a Coverdell Educational Savings Account, and UTMA/UGMA accounts.

    Caregiving
The aging process can be challenging whether you are looking to develop a plan for themselves, or trying to figure out the best way to support their parents. Elder care may be a complicated, emotional process but being informed and having a plan, appropriate care, and insurance can help you navigate this demanding responsibility and consider the implications for your financial life especially as healthcare costs rise.

    Post-Career
Today's 65-year-olds have a high likelihood of living until their mid-80s, and it's not uncommon to reach substantially beyond that. That means you need to plan for a retirement that will span two decades and potentially much more. Longer retirements are great outcomes, but also place a great deal of stress on a household’s finances. Starting early to invest towards your future will help you avoid outliving your savings.

    Death
Dealing with death is never easy. Though it may be hard to talk about estate planning, addressing it promptly is crucial to saving time and money, and to minimizing family conflict. Passing away without a will means the state determines how the deceased’s assets will be distributed, and this may not be consistent with the family’s wishes. Thus, a proactive approach to estate planning as a family is better than a reactive one.
