My Story and Services

As a financial advisor, Carolina Silva (she/her/hers) runs a wealth management practice for high-net-worth individuals, including their families and businesses.

Over 75% of Carolina’s clients are diverse, as her practice focuses on communities like her own, serving Women, Latinos, and the LGBTQ+ community and allies.

She focuses on delivering a comprehensive approach to managing wealth, starting with listening to a client’s needs and ensuring every strategy is grounded in understanding what each client wants to achieve. Carolina provides access to the investment insights and capabilities of Morgan Stanley, helping address the various aspects of her clients’ financial lives. She is passionate about delivering excellent service and helping her clients pursue their goals.

She follows Morgan Stanley’s tradition of being an active and engaged participant in the communities she serves.

• Carolina is the Founder and Co-Chair of Morgan Stanley’s EDGE Committee – a Diversity & Inclusion initiative sought to achieve Excellence in Diversity through Growth and Empowerment for Financial Advisor Associates within the NY Metro Region.
• After serving as the President of the Alumni Board of Directors for her alma mater, Wagner College, Carolina serves as the youngest Board of Trustee in the history of the college.
• Carolina serves as the Co-Chair of OPEN Finance, a New York-based nonprofit that advocates for LGBTQ+ equality and diversity in the financial services sector.
• Carolina chaired the 2018 Annual Action Awards for Athlete Ally, a nonprofit organization focused on ending homophobia and transphobia in sports through education and awareness – a mission especially meaningful to her after playing Division I water polo for her alma mater.
• Carolina continues to play water polo competing for the New York Athletic Club, where she formerly served as the team captain for three years.

Carolina lives in Brooklyn with her wife, Ashley, a NCAA Division I basketball referee working for the NBA as an NBA Referee Trainee, and their two rescue dogs, Sofia and Tinto.

Women
Carolina is passionate about advocating for all women in all walks of life.

As of March 2024, over 50% of Carolina’s clients are women. These women are the financial decision-makers of their household, whether they are single, married, divorced, or widowed. Through a consultative partnership, Carolina helps her clients address the unique challenges women face when building their wealth and creates a structured plan to support them in achieving their financial goals.

Carolina believes in financial empowerment. She helps women grow and protect their wealth by providing educational events through her ‘Women and Wealth’ seminar series, covering topics such as:

• Modern Financial Planning for the Modern Woman
• Your Guide to Financial & Economic Empowerment
• Investing 101
• Fashion and Finance
• First Time Home Buyers
• Adulting 101

In addition to hosting her own events, Carolina is a frequent featured speaker for organizations, conferences, and women’s networks, including the New York Junior League, Modern Healthcare’s Women Leaders Conference, and Girl Scouts of the USA.
LGBTQ+
As of March 2024, over 25% of Carolina’s clients identify as LGBTQ+. As part of the LGBTQ+ community herself, Carolina knows firsthand their unique needs. All too often people think that after marriage equality, the fight ended, we won. For those of us in the community, we know that this is far from the truth. While marriage equality pushed the conversation forward from domestic partnerships and nuances of estate planning, the LGBTQ+ population must address unique financial planning needs, such as out-of-pocket health care expenses for family planning and gender affirmation surgeries.

As an active leader within the firm, Carolina was a featured speaker on Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s Inclusion of Wealth Series on "Serving LGBTQ+ Clients” to educate financial advisors across the country on how to serve the unique needs of the community. In addition, Carolina co-chairs the Morgan Stanley Global Pride & Ally Client Advisory Group, a strategic initiative looking to engage with LGBTQ+ clients firmwide.

Carolina advocates for the LGBTQ+ community in many ways:

• She serves as the co-chair of OPEN Finance, a New York-based nonprofit that drives forward LGBTQ+ equality and diversity in the financial services sector.
• Carolina chaired the 2018 Annual Action Awards for Athlete Ally, a nonprofit organization focused on ending homophobia and transphobia in sports through education and awareness.

As a featured speaker for LGBTQ+ organizations and employee networks, Carolina has presented on topics such as Modern Family Planning and Empowering the LGBTQ+ Investor.
Latinos
Carolina had the privilege of growing up in the Latin melting pot of South Florida. She was the only American-born member of her family, who emigrated from Colombia, and strongly identifies with her latinidad. As a native Spanish speaker, Carolina understands the importance of doing business in one’s native tongue. She is passionate about serving clients in the Latino community as it allows her to feel close to her roots. She works with clients spanning the entire east coast, from Manhattan to Miami.

Given her background and extensive global travels, Carolina has embraced the cultural differences across nationalities and understands the cultural differences between how mainstream Wall Street and Latinos look to grow wealth for their families, businesses, and personal goals. “One of the unique aspects of working with the Latin community is seeing how cross-cultural values translate into their financial picture. Not only do we work together to help clients build their wealth, we see the importance of preserving intergenerational wealth as clients balance taking care of extended family in their home country while establishing roots in the United States.”

Carolina’s commitment to the Latino community goes beyond her clients as she serves as the Co-Chair of Morgan Stanley Association of Latino Professionals for America (MS ALPFA), a group committed to attract, develop, and retain Latino talent and foster Morgan Stanley’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

In addition to being a frequent guest speaker for ALPFA, Carolina has presented for Latinx organizations and employee networks on topics such as Financial Strategies for the Latinx Community, Common Cents, and Impact Investing.
