The Longtail Group at Morgan Stanley International Wealth Management is a cohesive team of dedicated financial professionals with complementary capabilities, perspectives and experience. We combine our talents to serve three distinct, yet interrelated, groups of clients: affluent families and individuals, captive insurance and reinsurance companies, and institutional investors who require trading coverage. Our clients are globally based, many in Bermuda and the Caribbean, and numerous have connections to the insurance industry.

Our extensive work with insurance companies and their executives informs our investment approach, but constitutes only part of our overall offering. Our greater goal is to combine our own experience and insights with access to the vast global resources of our firm to help all of our clients create customized plans based on their objectives. While we work with many affluent families in the United States, we built our practice catering to the needs of executives, entrepreneurs, and institutions domiciled overseas. This has given us the opportunity to develop the experience, resources and professional network needed to help our clients overcome the complexities of both onshore and offshore investing in order to preserve and grow their capital. Our goal is to meet and exceed our clients' standards by helping them devise strategies to preserve what they have earned and pursue whatever goals they may choose.
    We work with a select clientele of highly affluent families and individuals, helping each create a comprehensive wealth management plan based on their specific needs, goals and challenges. We focus our efforts on a relatively small number of relationships, effectively creating a virtual family office to complement their existing legal and tax advisory relationships.

    As many of our clients live outside the United States, we are as well versed in the unique financial needs of offshore investors as we are with those who created their wealth by building successful businesses here in New England.       Our team has worked closely with reinsurance companies, risk retention groups, and single parent / group captive insurance companies since 2005. Currently advising in excess of $3 billion in assets, we work with insurance companies both domestically and abroad, with a major focus within offshore jurisdictions. We begin each relationship by working to gain an in-depth understanding of the client’s liability stream, and other needs and goals, so that we can help our clients craft a customized investment policy statement. This statement takes into consideration the client’s risk profile and liquidity needs, as well and the tax and regulatory constraints of the jurisdiction in which the captive is domiciled.

      We follow a disciplined investment process to ensure we focus upon all aspects of the client's business -

        Meet The Longtail Group

        About Me

        As one of the co-founders of The Longtail Group, Greg Barbeau acts as the Group's portfolio manager. Greg is responsible for asset allocation and developing customized investment management solutions for the team’s clients. The experience in offshore markets Greg has acquired helps to ensure that investments are managed in accordance with the various rules of each offshore domicile in which the team does business.  

        Greg graduated from Providence College with a B.A. in political science and began his career at Bloomberg in New York. In 2004 he began working within Lehman Brothers’ private bank division before joining Barclays as part of their acquisition of Lehman.  In 2013, Greg joined his partners in their move to Morgan Stanley where he continues to provide wealth management advice and investment solutions to families and institutions. He resides in Marblehead, Massachusetts, with his wife, Jenna, and their children, Cole and Avery.

        About Me

        Steven Gaziano is one of the co-founders of The Longtail Group, a team that was formed for the express purpose of providing high touch service to both onshore and offshore insurance companies and their executive teams. Over the last decade, Steven has served as the lead relationship manager for the Group, with a strong focus on offshore clients. With an intimate knowledge of the ongoing industry changes, Steve provides high touch service to both onshore and offshore insurance clients, and in the process, he has become very familiar with the ongoing industry changes, as well as the Solvency II Directive.

        For the past ten years, Steven has acted as the president of Alumni Association and a member of the Board of Trustees at the Thayer Academy, a private college-preparatory day school in Braintree, Massachusetts. He holds a B.S. in finance and economics from Bentley University.  Steven lives in Canton, Massachusetts, with his wife, Felecia, his son, Anthony, and their dog, Petey. In his free time, Steven enjoys playing tennis and is an avid boater.

        About Me

        As a member of the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management “Middle Markets Group” (MMG), Carmine Rullo focuses on advising and implementing capital market solutions for the team’s institutional investors. Drawing on 15 years’ experience covering global institutions, Carmine provides customized sales and research coverage for boutique money managers, banks, trust departments, insurance companies, mutual funds and hedge funds. 
         
        Carmine started his career as a personal banker at Citizens Bank before transferring to Smith Barney, where he worked as a retirement specialist for two years. He then joined Lehman Brothers and subsequently Barclays prior to moving with his partners to Morgan Stanley in 2013.

        Carmine graduated from the University of Vermont with a B.A. in economics. He resides in Needham with his wife, Liz, and their son, Lee.
