Working With You

Our clients look to us for advice that includes their investments but goes far beyond to encompass business planning, investment management, lending strategies and other dimensions of their financial lives. That is why we employ a comprehensive approach that consists of the following steps:

Step 1: Setting Your Financial Objectives

Our process begins with a detailed conversation to identify what is truly important to you. We will ask a series of questions to provide an in-depth understanding of your personal, professional and financial situation. We will discuss your investment goals, time horizon and risk tolerance.

    Step 2: Developing Your Strategy

From this ongoing dialogue, we will analyze your current situation and begin to develop specific strategies to help you achieve your goals. This analysis will address income and retirement planning, investment management, strategic borrowing, wealth transfer and business succession planning, if applicable. We will also discuss an asset allocation strategy designed to help you achieve your financial goals. Please note, asset allocation does not guarantee a profit or protect against a loss in a declining financial market.

    Step 3: Implementing Your Strategy

We will work closely with you to execute a strategy to help you achieve your goals.

    Step 4: Reviewing Your Portfolio

Client contact is a high priority for us. We will review your portfolio's performance and help you keep track of your progress. When your personal situation or market conditions change, we will suggest appropriate adjustments to your portfolio to help you remain aligned with your goals.

Key Parts of Our Practice

As your wealth grows, so does its complexities and the resources needed to manage it effectively. We leverage our experience and relationships to deliver innovative strategies that are tailored to help meet your needs. We look forward to speaking with you to understand your challenges so together we can map out a game plan to help achieve your goals.

2Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan's investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan's flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan's investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state's own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state's tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
