The Deaton Group at Morgan Stanley

Our Mission Statement
Our Story and Services
For the past 20 years we have been working with family offices, entrepreneurs, founders, and business owners with significant wealth. As our clients and their businesses have grown so has the complexity of solutions required to meet their financial needs. Our focus has always been delivering Morgan Stanley's 'fully integrated' firm, embodying the banks founding principles of "Putting Clients First" and "Leading with Exceptional Ideas."
Wealth management has evolved significantly over the past 25 years, and the financial services industry often overlooks the unique needs of entrepreneurs, wealth creators, and founders. At Morgan Stanley, we are in a 'Category of One,' with an 85-year legacy of advising and partnering with some of the most successful entrepreneurs and families in the US. And that legacy hasn't changed, our clients still rely on us for access to capital and opportunities, trusted advice on the structure and implementation of the implications to overall allocation of assets.
What We Do
Through our experience, we can deliver the full capabilities of Morgan Stanley's global investment bank and wealth management platform. We provide access, we advise, and we allocate capital.
- Access: We provide growth capital, bespoke credit, thought leadership, and execution.
- Advice: Our services include capital markets, M&A advisory, wealth management, tax mitigation, family office, wealth education, trust and estate services, and philanthropy.
- Allocate: We manage assets and liabilities, asset location, and wealth transfer.
Our clients that we serve come from diverse industries. Common themes among our clients include tax mitigation, customized liquidity and credit solutions, wealth management, direct access to private investment opportunities, risk management.
Advising our clients on intentional legacy and estate planning is an important part of our practice. Our goal is to be our clients most essential advisors and advocates, meeting their unique needs and guiding them through decisions of consequence.
We meet in 1991 during our sophomore year at Texas Tech University and have been married for 30 years and have four grown children. For more on us, see our bios.

On a personal note, my wife Rachel and I live in downtown Austin, Texas, and enjoy all that the city has to offer. However, our true passion is spending time with our four kids, preferably in the mountains of Colorado and Montana. We are both active at Rawls School of Business at Texas Tech University and are crazy fans of everything Texas Tech and West Texas.

About Rachel Deaton
Being at Morgan Stanley allows us to advise clients on decisions of meaningful consequence and guiding them to be intentional with their legacy and good stewards of their wealth. At Morgan Stanley, we are in a 'Category of One,' with an 85-year legacy of advising and partnering with some of the most successful entrepreneurs and families in the US.
And that legacy hasn't changed and is carried on by us at The Deaton Group. Our clients rely on us for access to capital and opportunities, trusted advice on the structure and implementation, as well as the implications, to the overall allocation of assets.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, I had a broad range of project management and business development experience outside the finance world: starting businesses with my husband, implementing a recruiting program for a public company, working in privately held companies, art consultancy, and in setting up a family office. I also worked with several nonprofit organizations over the years and not to mention was a heck of a good school room mom year after year.
I met Doug my sophomore year of college at Texas Tech and have been married 30 years this year. We have four really cool children and two French bulldogs. I love living in downtown Austin, lingering in the Texas Hill Country at the vineyards, and hanging out with my family in Colorado and Montana. And I won't turn down a good documentary or chance to go to a farmer's market to meet local farmers.
