Our Story and Services

The Brooks White Cochran Group at Morgan Stanley serves a successful and sophisticated clientele in Ohio and across the nation whose hard work has led to complex financial considerations. A hallmark of the team is its ability to deliver an uncommon level of care and consistency to business owners, corporate executives, and generations of affluent families that demand highly professional and personalized wealth management.

Our mission, first and foremost, is to understand your goals and priorities. TO take the time to ask hard, smart questions and listen carefully, then understand in great detail, exactly where your wealth stands today and where you'd like it to be tomorrow. We then help you design, implement and periodically monitor a customized wealth management strategy that helps you and your family pursue personal financial goals without unnecessary investment risk. Our approach is about designing to strategies that help turn goals into reality. When you succeed, we succeed.

Our Process

We begin every relationship with a conversation, helping you to identify and prioritize which goals matter most to you. Whether that's transferring wealth to the next generation, customizing financial strategies that help you pursue your passions, or simply providing advice and guidance to help you stay informed, we start by listening to learn more about you.

"The word 'proactive' best characterizes our approach," Jim White explains. "We often talk to business owners before they need growth capital, want to sell, or buy out a partner - offering banking assistance, for example, through an investment banker or M&A specialist, for client families, we may suggest strategies to help optimize intergenerational wealth. By doing more for fewer clients and building strong personal relationships with them, we can offer a more valuable experience than they found elsewhere."

Working with us means working with advisors truly dedicated to your success. Our approach is simple, transparent, and supported by thoughtful investment guidance. Helping you pursue your goals starts with getting to know you. Our job is to understand what matters most to you. We'll work together to create a customized strategy that reflects your investment personality and is built around your life priorities.

With many clients building wealth through their entrepreneurial spirit, the team helps them preserve and grow their investments, with a focus on downside protection. For senior executives, special services are offered to help with monetization and diversification. In all cases, Brooks White Cochran is proud to mature a deep understanding of clients' careers and business lives.

Charting a prudent course to financial independence requires a well-conceived, personalized wealth plan with defined long-term goals. Our wealth advisory consultative process can help you design a cohesive wealth plan for the future that includes:

Our Philosophy

We live in a world that's constantly changing. Markets fluctuate moment to moment. New investment opportunities arise daily. That's why we believe that you and your situation are the best starting points from which to plan your financial future: where you are today, where you want to be tomorrow, and what you want to accomplish along the way. Because only by understanding you and your priorities, can we effectively offer our experience and resources and help you build a financial framework that is rooted in the unique complexities of your life.

"From an investment perspective, we sit with clients to evaluate what type of return they need to accomplish their goals, with minimal risk. We're especially conscious of fees and tax consequences, and the importance of transparency and accountability. With many clients building wealth through their entrepreneurial spirit, the team helps them preserve and grow their investments, with a focus on downside protection. Clients come to us with varying degrees of investment knowledge. We aim to educate in simple terms, so that they understand what they own and why," Chris Brooks says. In all cases, Brooks White Cochran is proud to mature a deep understanding of clients' careers and business lives.

The teams' breadth and depth of service extends to helping clients with liability management, significant challenges (such as settling an estate or introducing a business valuation specialist), and smaller tasks (such as setting up "online bill pay" or scheduling an airline flight).

"Many clients have become good friends and referred others. We measure success by the tenure and tenor of those relationships - and being seen as a trusted resource that is willing and able to provide concierge-like service," Daniel Cochran adds.

Our Focus

We offer individuals and families a breadth of strategies, premier customer service and financial tools based on their unique circumstances. No matter what your goals may be, we begin by getting to know you and defining and prioritizing your financial goals.

We work closely with other trusted professionals to help clients pursue their goals, drawing on the investment insights of Morgan Stanley and access to the banking convenience of Morgan Stanley as we do so.

We'll measure success together over time by the amount of progress you are making reaching your goals, making thoughtfully considered adjustments as events and conditions warrant.

Meet The Brooks White Cochran Group

About Jon Brooks

From an early age, Chris was fascinated by investments and encouraged to learn more by his father, a fixed income trader. After graduating from The Ohio State University, Chris followed his passion and began his career at a large banking institution in 1994 where he served as a financial advisor. Over the course of his over 20 year career, Chris has designed sophisticated investment strategies that include equity and fixed income portfolio construction. He also focuses on helping optimize the structure of client wealth, through philanthropic estate planning strategies. Additionally, Chris is responsible for the team’s research efforts – helping to identify long-term investment strategies and risk management solutions for strategic asset allocation portfolios and concentrated, single stock positions.
Chris is a resident of Upper Arlington with his wife, Lisa, and their son. Over the years, Chris has shared his time and resources with several organizations that support cerebral palsy research and education. He is also a supporter of Canine Companions and participated in fundraising efforts for cancer research – raising money and riding in Pelotonia (the annual two-day bike ride covering 180 miles, each August). To “relax,” Chris enjoys photography, cycling, playing guitar, golf, swimming and reading.
