Our Story and Services

As the financial world becomes more complex, careful planning and tailored, objective advice becomes even more important to achieving your life goals.

At The Blackbriar Group, we offer a personalized approach to family wealth management. As our name implies, we focus on finding solutions to help simplify your financial life, so you can spend more time enjoying the wealth you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

For more than 53 collective years*, we have been serving the specialized needs of financially successful families, professionals and business owners locally and across the country. We are a family financial advisory practice, offering the continuity and balance of perspectives that help you, your parents and your children make more informed, confident decisions about your wealth.

We believe wealth is about more than your investment portfolio. It’s about your life and the people, passions and pursuits that give your life purpose. Our consultative approach focuses on your full financial picture – from putting your children through college and preparing for retirement to caring for aging parents and legacy planning.

When you work with us, you experience a fully-engaged standard of care that prioritizes your best interests and reflects your family values. We are proud of the “high-touch” service we provide and welcome the opportunity to deliver this same level of excellence to you and your family.

Helping Reach Your Goals

We are an experienced team of professionals focused on the disciplines of financial planning and investment management with an enduring commitment to exceptional client service each step of the way.
    Icon Image
    Step 1: Initial Conversation
We begin with an informal discussion to understand your financial concerns and determine how we can help add value to your situation. As we agree to move forward, we’ll schedule our next meeting and request important information about your finances (our input form is located in our “Knowledge Center” tab.)
    Icon Image
    Step 2: Face-to-Face Meeting
We continue the dialogue by fostering an in-depth conversation where we learn about the values that shape your decisions, review the information you’ve prepared and begin to define your priorities.
    Icon Image
Step 3: Analysis and Strategy Development
Here, we utilize both strategic and technical financial planning tools to develop a personalized and detailed strategy to answer such important questions as “Can I retire in my current lifestyle?”, “What is my net worth?”, and “Do I have enough insurance?” This information serves as the foundation for building your initial plan, as well as future investment decisions.
    Icon Image
    Step 4: Recommendations and Implementation
In this step, we present investment options that, once executed, are designed to work together in an effort to achieve your goals and preserve your wealth. Upon your approval, we’ll execute the investment strategies and begin to implement the other wealth management recommendations we discussed. These often encompass risk management, as well as estate planning, trust and philanthropic strategies.
    Icon Image
    Step 5: Service, Service, Service
Committed to a premium client experience, we focus on developing a relationship that can provide value to you and your family. As we begin to implement each strategy, you’ll work directly with our dedicated team of professionals. We have designed a “high touch” client experience to welcome you to the Blackbriar Group family.
Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not accept appointments nor will it act as a trustee but it will provide access to trust services through an appropriate third‐party corporate trustee.
