My story

Starting in 1989, I have over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. My passion for the business lies in helping my clients navigate their financial goals as well as engaging with multiple generations within one family. I find both conversations to be extremely rewarding.

What I enjoy most while working with my clients is sitting down to take a listen to their story. I like to find out everything I can about them. After I’ve done so, we dive deep into their finances. Once I have this information, I work to produce a holistic individualized plan. On an ongoing basis, I continue to update the plan throughout the many stages of my client’s life. In many cases, I begin working with the next generation.

I work alongside my partner Bob Miller. Together we bring 70 years of investment experience to the table. We both handle the investment decisions with the analytical work being done behind the scenes by our Consulting Group Analyst, Jacob Aruta. Our Client Service Associates, Dawn Uchihara and Eric Suh, handle the operational side of the business. Kevin Petersen, who has spent several years in the industry, joined the team in 2021. Blake Vogelsang is fully licensed and has been on board with the team for over a year now.

I attended California State University, Dominquez Hills, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Since then, I have received the Financial Planning Specialist designation, Lending Specialist certifications, and completed the Pepperdine Graziadio Business School Financial Planning Program while also completing the course’s rigorous academic requirements.

I earned the significant industry designation of Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) in 2023. The CFP® designation recognizes a combination of substantial practical financial planning experience, the completion of a comprehensive and highly specialized educational program, and the demonstration of real-world applications of the core competencies.

In 2024, I was named as one of Forbes Best-In-State Wealth Advisors which is a testament to my professional experience and dedication to my clients.
(Source: Forbes.com (Awarded April 2024) Data compiled by SHOOK Research LLC based on time period from 6/30/22-6/30/23).

I’ve lived in Redondo Beach for close to 50 years and am very fortunate to have all my immediate family in the area. I have been married to my wife, Lee, for 25 years and we have two boys, Blake (23) and Brad (21), who is off at college at UCSB.

Outside of work, I enjoy being outdoors, whether it’s going to the beach with family or deep-sea fishing my friends. My wife and I love to travel, listen to live music, and spend time with our kids. I am also a very involved community member. I coached both Blake and Brad in soccer, at AYSO region 34, for 10 years. I also coached basketball and was a commissioner for HBYB for 6 years. I have volunteered my time to local schools and have also helped the Redondo Union High School water polo program while my kids played there. Recently, I’ve become a member of the Elks Lodge where I volunteer for The Elks National Hoop Shoot basketball program.

In my over 35 years of experience, I have always strived to provide a personal, client-focused approach to financial planning. I believe that understanding my clients goals, values, and family dynamics is key to developing and maintaining a comprehensive financial strategy that evolves with their lives. My commitment to ongoing education, professional development, and community involvement reflects my dedication to not only my clients but also to the broader community. As I continue to work with my team at Morgan Stanley, I look forward to helping more families achieve their financial goals and securing their financial future.
