My Story and Services

Jacob Kamine began his investment career in 2018 with Merrill Lynch after earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Menlo College. As an advisor of the SV Palo Alto Group, his primary responsibilities include client relationship management, financial planning, liability management, and coordinating with other professionals such as accountants and estate attorneys to ensure that a sound financial strategy is in place.

As part of his dedication to educate himself, he earned the Financial Planning Specialist designation and is currently pursuing the Certified Financial Planning designation. Over the past few years Jacob has designed in-depth strategies for several different types of individuals. Some examples include business owners facing liquidity needs, diversifying highly concentrated stock positions, retirement income planning, and estate/succession planning.

Prior to moving to the Bay Area, Jacob lived in Fresno, CA where he worked on his family’s farm which grows vegetables. Throughout college Jacob competed in fitness competitions and believes the ultimate healthcare plan is done through regular exercise. Jacob enjoys most outdoor activities and loves spending his time outside. Ranging from golf, hiking, fishing, or snowboarding when the weather permits. Jacob also has a passion for flying and holds a private pilot license.

Trust and Estate Planning and Business Succession
The key to determining which trust, tax and estate strategies to execute is to understand the interplay of personal and exogenous factors. Liquidity events such as an initial public offering or a merger or acquisition may provide income and estate planning opportunities. Liquidity events also magnify the need to put in place or update certain essential estate planning documents.

7Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
