A financial plan should begin with the life it is meant to support. Before considering investments or other strategies, we first seek to understand what a client's resources need to accomplish, which decisions may be approaching, and where flexibility matters.
Planning Gives Investing Direction
We believe investments should serve the financial plan rather than define it. Planning establishes the outcomes a client is working toward, the resources available to support them, and the tradeoffs involved. That context provides direction for investment decisions and helps determine how much risk is reasonably necessary.
Taking more investment risk is not an objective in itself. Liquidity, time horizon, potential drawdowns, plan sufficiency, and the ability to remain invested all matter. The goal is to take the amount of risk reasonably necessary to support the plan—not simply as much risk as a client might tolerate.
Coordination Matters
Important financial decisions rarely exist in isolation. Investments, taxes, lending, insurance, estate planning, cash flow, and account ownership can affect one another.
For that reason, we place a high value on coordination—within our team and, when appropriate, with a client's CPA, attorney, Private Banker, and other professionals. A sound decision is more useful when its timing, responsibilities, and broader implications are understood.
Preparation Over Prediction
Markets, tax laws, careers, family circumstances, and priorities change. We do not believe a durable financial strategy should depend on consistently predicting what happens next.
Instead, we emphasize preparation: preserving flexibility, identifying important decisions before timing becomes restrictive, and understanding tradeoffs before they become urgent. The objective is not to eliminate uncertainty, but to create a better framework for making decisions within it.
From Planning to Execution
Our process follows a recurring progression:
Discovery → Plan → Strategy → Execution → Review → Adapt
We begin by understanding the client's circumstances and priorities, translate them into a plan, determine how the appropriate financial strategies should work together, and establish responsibility for carrying those decisions forward.
The process does not end with implementation. Review helps identify changes in the client's circumstances, assumptions, priorities, or required outcomes. When those changes matter, we adapt the plan, strategy, or implementation accordingly – so the client's financial decisions continue to reflect the life they are intended to support.

Alan leads the investment management side of the Guerry/Kinney Group. As Portfolio Management Director, he is responsible for discretionary management of client assets, including portfolio construction and implementation, ongoing monitoring, risk management, and investment research. His work is guided by each client's broader financial plan, with the objective of taking the amount of investment risk reasonably necessary to support the client's goals.
Alan's interest in investing began at age 15, when his grandfather gave him a book that introduced him to the financial markets. He later earned a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Georgia before beginning his financial-services career at Merrill Lynch. His analytical background continues to influence the way he approaches investment research, risk, and portfolio decision-making.
Alan lives in Alpharetta with his wife, Traci. He has been involved in children's ministry at North Point Community Church since 2000 and continues to serve as a small-group leader. Outside the office, he enjoys health and fitness, reading, listening to music, and spending time in the mountains and at the beach.

Trey leads the financial planning side of the Guerry/Kinney Group and handles the team's initial conversations with prospective clients. His work begins with understanding what a client's financial resources need to support and the decisions that may lie ahead. His planning responsibilities include retirement and cash-flow planning, lending and liability strategy, insurance planning, account structure and ownership considerations, beneficiary and titling considerations, and coordination with CPAs, attorneys, and other outside professionals.

Stacy is a Wealth Management Associate who oversees the Guerry/Kinney Group’s Concierge Team. She began her career in financial services in 2001 and brings extensive experience to the team’s client service and day-to-day operations. Alongside Dan and Seamus, she helps coordinate documentation, account maintenance, scheduling, follow-up, and other recurring service needs. Stacy also serves as a Market CSA Coach within Morgan Stanley.
Stacy completed her education at Southeastern Academy, with a focus in Travel & Tourism. She lives in Roswell and is actively involved in volunteer work through event coordination and professional costuming with the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion. Outside the office, she enjoys live music and aerial arts and shares her home with three rescue cats, Noodle, Tundra, and Beck.

He began his career in financial services in 2020 after more than a decade in leadership roles at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Kaiser Permanente. Dan joined Morgan Stanley in 2021 and later transitioned to the Alpharetta branch.
