Your Financial Journey Meets My Process

While our initial planning efforts are typically geared to the wealth of a single client, we often expand these plans as we consolidate assets and integrate the goals of future generations. We help you prepare for surprises through committed, careful monitoring of your financial plan and investment strategies. Dealing with change is a core responsibility as your financial advisor, so we are always available to discuss your performance and recommend changes as needed. For example, any client with significant wealth must eventually address the goals for that wealth when they pass on. My experience can help you tackle this often-difficult subject.

    Icon Image
    Step 1: Introductory Meeting

Our relationship begins with an initial discussion aimed towards getting to know you, your lifestyle, and your future goals. We approach every meeting or phone call as a chance to have an in-depth conversation that covers your interests and your life as much as financial matters. It is through these personal exchanges that we strive to develop the bonds of trust and personal knowledge that allow us to serve you most completely.

    Icon Image
    Step 2: Discovery Meeting

A thorough discovery process leads us to provide tailored, comprehensive solutions for your goals. Through a series of meetings, we will learn about your past investment experience to set expectations and gauge the appropriate level of risk to achieve your objectives. This can mean identifying areas where not assuming enough risk can lead to long-term problems and considering multiple strategies to balance wealth preservation with the opportunity for growth.

    Icon Image
    Step 3: Financial Plan Presentation

Financial plan presentations map out essential factors that play into your financial success such as your employee and employer contributions, liquidity events, and insurance coverage. Examining relevant financial information provides a holistic asset allocation analysis for your accounts helping ensure a comprehensive financial plan.

    Icon Image
Step 4: Action Items / Next Steps

After the financial plan presentation, we will follow up with you regarding your analysis and recommendations, which may include adjustments to your financial plan, investment allocation, company benefits and insurance coverage.

    Icon Image
    Step 5: Implementation Meeting

The implementation meeting focuses on creating prospective strategies custom designed for your specific needs. Recommended changes could include logistics, tax impact, asset allocation adjustments, and saving/benefit modifications.

Wealth management based on your goals. Focused on you.

On the surface, it seems rather simple — manage investments and resources in pursuit of a goal. However, if you're like most of the clients I serve, you have an array of goals. Often these goals are multi-faceted and complex, requiring the experience of a number of professionals. When working with me, my clients may benefit not only from the day-to-day advice and guidance that I provide. They can also benefit from an extensive team of Morgan Stanley professionals who are available for additional support and expertise. All working together with one focus - You. My approach to goals-based wealth management seeks to tie together your entire financial outlook — income, expenses, investments, debt, business interest, real property — in one strategy. I'll start by:

  • Analyzing your current income, expenses, and investment holdings.
  • Considering your objectives for each area of your financial life—family, business, retirement, and wealth transfer.
  • Estimating the potential impact of taxes, inflation, and market upheavals on your portfolio.

4An investment in an exchange-traded fund (ETF) involves risks similar to those of investing in a broadly based portfolio of equity securities traded on exchange in the relevant securities market, such as market fluctuations caused by such factors as economic and political developments, changes in interest rates and perceived trends in stock prices. The investment return and principal value of ETF investments will fluctuate, so that an investor’s ETF shares, if or when sold, may be worth more or less than the original cost.

Investors should carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) before investing. The prospectus contains this and other information about the ETF. To obtain a prospectus, contact your Financial Advisor or visit the ETF company’s website. Please read the prospectus carefully before investing.

6Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
