Have you been saving for retirement? Many people have been saving their entire working lives, diligently accumulating the wealth they think they’ll need. But saving for retirement is not the same as planning for retirement.  

I provide strategic advice, thoughtful planning and tactical implementation to clients on all issues involving retirement. I begin by asking clients to think about what their retirement will be like. Goals they’d like to accomplish, dreams they’d like to fulfill. And, inevitably, expenses they may face. Unexpected economic factors. Changes in the markets.

In fact, I help clients understand that retirement is not really an event – it’s a life stage, one that requires substantial and ongoing change in wealth management strategies and tactics. There are many variables, and no two retirements are exactly alike.  

Ultimately, my goal is to help clients answer the question that keeps many people awake at night: will I run out of money? I want to help every client feel confident and secure in their retirement.

I work with clients to help them plan for and enjoy a successful retirement. Based on an in-depth analysis of your vision for your retirement, I construct a detailed financial plan and investment portfolio to help you achieve your goals.

I have been passionate about implementing financial plans to help people enjoy their lives since I was in college. I started as an intern, then joined Merrill Lynch after graduation in 1998. I moved to Morgan Stanley in 2009 to help my clients leverage the firm’s vast resources, advanced technology and thought leadership.

I earned a B.S. degree in Finance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. I am also an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF), which speaks to my knowledge, skills and commitment to my clients. I am a member of the Association of Professional Investment Consultants (APIC).

Outside of work, I am first and foremost a devoted husband and father of two boys. I am also a former committee chair of the Peak Vista Community Health Centers “Breakfast of Champions.” With whatever time I have left, I enjoy running, skiing, playing golf, coaching my sons’ baseball teams and proudly claim the title of “wine geek.”
    Key questions to ask about retirement
    With nearly 20 years of experience focused on retirement, I have encountered just about every concern of clients planning for, approaching or in retirement. As you think about your own retirement, here are some things to consider.

    When do I want to retire?
    This is one of the most basic questions, and one of the most personal. Some people want to retire as soon as they possibly can, while others can’t conceive of not working. I help my clients work out how they want to spend this portion of their lives. 

    Will I have enough money?
    More than anything else, this is what keeps people up at night. It’s an important question, of course, but with careful planning and a realistic approach to unexpected expenses, I help clients retire with confidence. 

    “Hard” or “soft” retirement?
    Many people don’t want to stop working, exactly – instead, they want to re-shape what work looks like. Some become part time consultants in the same field. Others explore a new kind of work, paid or unpaid. Together, we can envision your long-term future. 

    What about medical expenses?
    With so much uncertainty around both health and health care, this is easily the second biggest “up at night” concern. It can be a daunting issue. But with clear-eyed planning and in-depth knowledge of your many options, I can help you both prepare for and manage medical issues as they occur. 

    “What if …?”
    The future is full of promise, as well as ambiguity. It’s important to plan for scenarios that could blindside your retirement. Inflation, market downturns, economic uncertainty – my experience and broad view help prepare for the unexpected.
