About David R Clemens
With nearly 25 years of financial services experience and a lifelong passion for the markets, David Clemens helps clients—and their families—navigate their financial lives with greater assurance. David is an Executive Director and Senior Portfolio Management Director with Morgan Stanley in Williamsburg, Virginia. He takes his responsibilities seriously and believes comprehensive financial advice can have a profound impact not only on his clients’ lives, but also on their children’s lives and their community. His mission is to help clients strive for a distinguished lifestyle through every stage., from their career years through retirement, while leaving a notable legacy. He concentrates his efforts on designing and implementing personalized wealth management strategies by listening carefully to each client’s goals, values, objectives, and concerns, then bringing together the appropriate planning and investment resources to support those priorities.
David earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Fairfield University and began his career in the biotech field, focusing on cancer research. While he respected the disciplined methodology required in scientific work, he felt a stronger calling to work directly with people and help them make important decisions. He joined Morgan Stanley in 2003 and, over the course of his career, has held a series of leadership and advisory roles. In addition to serving clients as a Financial Advisor and Executive Director, he has served as Branch Technology Coordinator, Assistant Branch Manager, and Branch Manager in Williamsburg. He has remained an active Portfolio Manager since 2011 and currently holds the firm’s Senior Portfolio Management Director designation. He also serves as an Insurance Planning Director and Lending Specialist, and has been a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) since 2002. David has been recognized for performance and leadership throughout his career, including early-career Pacesetters Club/Blue Chip Award recognition (2004-2008), service on the Branch Manager’s Council supporting the training of new Financial Advisors, and receipt of the firm’s Community Service Leadership Award in 2023. He is also a member of the Morgan Stanley Masters Club (2024–present).
David and his wife, Heather, have been happily married since 1999, and together they have two children, their son Chris and their daughter Mary. When David is not assisting clients, he maintains a well-balanced life as an active and well-recognized member of the Williamsburg community. Since 1998, he has committed significant time to volunteer programs and nonprofit organizations, including coaching at the Williamsburg Youth Baseball League beginning in 2010, involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, and leadership service in multiple homeowner associations. David is also deeply engaged at St. Bede Catholic Church, where he has served in numerous committees and ministries over many years, including Parish Council leadership, development and fundraising efforts, liturgical ministries, and co-founding community-building initiatives. He is especially passionate about serving the Williamsburg House of Mercy, a nonprofit dedicated to serving those in need, where he served as Treasurer from 2016 to 2024. In addition, David serves on the Board of Directors for the Catholic Community Foundation for the Diocese of Richmond (October 2025–present), including service on its Finance and Investment Committees.
