What do the CFP® and CIMA® designations mean and what it means to YOU
Brian Sullivan has received both his CFP® and CIMA® designations – he has been using them to help serve his clients for over 15 years.
Being a CFP® or Certified Financial Planner® practitioner, means that one has met the rigorous educational and testing requirements required to attain this certification. Certified Financial Planner® practitioners also agree to adhere to the CFP Board's strict code of ethics, professional responsibility standards and meet ongoing education requirements.
Although many professionals may call themselves "Financial Planners," only those who have fulfilled the rigorous requirements of the CFP® Board can display the CFP® mark. It indicates in-depth knowledge of issues such as investment planning, tax planning, retirement planning, insurance planning and estate planning. This helps us to facilitate better, more impactful advisement with you, your accountants and attorneys.
Being a CIMA® or Certified Investment Management Analyst means that one has completed extensive training, including instruction at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, a leading school of finance; and agreed to adhere to the Investment Management Consultants Association's code of ethics and meet ongoing education requirements.
A CIMA® is more qualified to manage investment portfolios and often manages portfolios for high net worth and institutional clients. Their training and experience is in advanced investment consulting, developing investment policy guidelines, optimization of portfolio strategies, quantitative and qualitative selection criteria for manager searches and monitoring of portfolio performance. This leads to better structure and consistency in portfolio management.

About Shea Sullivan
I started my career at Parametric Portfolio Associates while finishing college. In 2022, Parametric and Eaton Vance were acquired by Morgan Stanley. Working as an internal partner provided a path to work with my father Brian Sullivan as a financial advisor, educating and advising clients through their dynamic financial needs. My prior background at an investment management firm like Parametric gives me unique insights into the multiple partners we now leverage in our practice.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends. We take regular trips to Lake Chelan, ski/snowboard trips, and enjoy being outdoors. I am also an avid sports fan rooting for Gonzaga basketball, the Seattle Seahawks, and Seattle Mariners to name a few.
