    The CFP® professional must develop theoretical and practical financial planning knowledge by completing 2 to 3 years of comprehensive coursework at an institution of higher learning approved by the CFP® Board. Once obtaining the CFP® trademark, their education does not stop, as continued education is part of the recertification process.

    The CFP® professional must pass the 7 hour comprehensive Certification Exam, which tests abilities to apply financial planning knowledge to real-life situations. The exam covers the financial planning process, tax planning, employee benefits and retirement planning, estate planning, investment management and insurance.

About Don Barthel

Don initially entered the financial services industry from the consulting engineering business as a result of his interest in solving financial problems for business owners and families.  What keeps him in this business are the relationships he has built serving clients and their families, many of whom have had life changing events and needed guidance as well as financial strategies.

Don has a long history of helping guide clients and their families with investment planning, retirement planning, and broad aspects of wealth management.  He has significant experience addressing the complex needs of high net worth clients and Wealth transition.  He holds a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation and a Wealth Advisor certification. 

He holds a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University and completed an MBA at Auburn University.

Don and his wife Mary Allen, whom he considers “his greatest asset entrusted to him”, have three children, and four grandchildren.  “Family is the most important “sector” in my life and I find that to be true with most of the clients that our team serves.”

About Richard Nolan Sanders

Richard works with clients to create a comprehensive financial plan that is personalized to their specific long-term goals and risk tolerance.  Through a collaborative planning process with clients, he builds plans to meet client goals, such as investing for retirement, college expenses, and transitioning wealth to the next generation.

Richard joined Morgan Stanley as a Financial Advisor in 2013.  Prior to joining the firm, Richard served as a financial analyst for International Paper in Memphis.  He attended the University of Alabama, where he graduated with Honors with a B.A. in Finance and Economics, and also earned his Masters in Business Administration.  Richard is a current member of the Shades Valley Rotary club, and is a Past President of the Exceptional Foundation Junior Board.  He also enjoys volunteering at Children's of Alabama.  In his free time, Richard enjoys hiking or reading a new book.

Debbie Booth is a Senior Private Banker serving Morgan Stanley Wealth Management offices in Alabama, Arkansas, and Florida.

Private Bankers partner with Financial Advisors to develop a specialized approach for managing clients’ cash flow, liquidity and financing needs, leveraging our comprehensive suite of cash management and lending solutions.

Debbie began her career in financial services in 1987 and joined Morgan Stanley in 2010 as a Senior Private Banker. Prior to joining the firm, she held many roles including Wealth Management Banker, Banking Center Manager, and Retail Mortgage Manager at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch.

Debbie and her family reside in Gulf Breeze, Florida. She is an active member of the community by volunteering her time with March of Dimes, Women’s Build with Habitat for Humanity and Manna Food Bank. When not in the office, she enjoys watching football, going to the beach, and spending time with her family.
