About Me

Richard S. Zinman leads the Magellan Group within Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management. His primary responsibilities are to oversee the team’s asset allocation models, manager search and selection process, performance measurement, tax, trust and estate planning strategies, risk management, alternative investment knowledge and philanthropic advisory services.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Richard was a managing director in Wealth Management with Credit Suisse, where in addition to his role as a relationship manager, he also served as head of both Campus Recruiting and Practice Management for Private Banking North America. Richard led efforts to develop the Private Bank’s investments in human capital, focusing on training Advisors in practice management, new business development, and deepening client relationships. He joined Credit Suisse in 2008 from Citi Smith Barney. Richard began his career on Wall Street in 1983 with Dean Witter Reynolds. Richard he been named amongst Barron’s Top 100 Financial Advisors in 2006-2008 and as Barron’s Top 100 Financial Advisors in NY in 2010-2011. Richard was most recently named amongst Barron’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors for 2018, ranking #20 in New York State.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Duke University. He is active in many organizations. He is co-chair of the board of Wave Hill New York Public Garden and Cultural Center and an executive committee board member of Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, where he chairs the development committee. In addition, Richard serves on the Council of Conservators of the New York Public Library, where he co-chairs the Educational Committee, the Advisor Board of the Guggenheim Museum and the Advisory Board of Duke Performances the performing Arts Organization at Duke University. In his spare time, he enjoys cycling, collecting and drinking fine wines, and reading historical fiction. Richard lives in New York City and Bedford, New York. He and his wife have three adult daughters.

Anthony A. Dertouzos advises an elite clientele of affluent individual investors, families, and concentrated shareholders of public and private businesses. In 2001, the group moved its practice to Citigroup’s Salomon Smith Barney, where Anthony became a leading partner and managing director. After seven years at Citigroup, Anthony transitioned with the team to the Private Banking North America business at Credit Suisse, where they remained until 2015. Anthony has been recognized in several Wall Street publications, including being named one of Barron’s Top 100 Financial Advisors in NY for 2012-2013, and 2018, and in the nation for 2014-2015. In 2007, he was listed 6th in On Wall Street’s annual ranking of “Top Advisors under 40.”  He was most recently named to Forbes’ 2018 Best-In-State Wealth Advisor List.

About Me

John Moreno advises an accomplished clientele of serial entrepreneurs, executives and concentrated shareholders of public companies and wealthy families, who have experienced a significant liquidity event from the monetization of a business or asset. John quarterbacked the team’s alternative investment due diligence efforts, working closely with Citi Alternative Investments to cultivate knowledge of existing and pipeline Alternative Investment opportunities. After only a year, John entered the Citigroup advisor training program, where he ranked first in his class with respect to assets under management and revenue. In 2008, John moved with the team to Credit Suisse, where they remained until joining Morgan Stanley in 2015. John was recognized in 2017 as one of America’s Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors in Forbes Magazine.  

John is a graduate of The Hotchkiss School and attended Wesleyan University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American studies. John holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School, where he graduated in 2010. John is also very active in Alumni development for Hotchkiss. He has endowed the John D. Moreno ’00 Scholarship with the sole purpose to provide financial aid for students attending the school.

John lives in New York City with his wife Libby and daughter Poppy.

About Me

Griffin McQuilling joined Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management in 2015, after transitioning with the team from Credit Suisse’s Private Banking Division.  Griffin’s primary focus is new business development, building awareness around the team’s capabilities and maintaining relationships with current and prospective clients.

Prior to being promoted to Private Wealth Advisor Associate, Griffin supported the team’s alternative investments business, and assisted with asset allocation, portfolio construction, and day-to-day operations.  Before joining Credit Suisse, Griffin worked at Blue Alternative Asset Management, a fund of hedge funds in New York City, where he was responsible for managerial due diligence and ongoing performance monitoring. 

Griffin was born and raised in Garden City, New York, and attended Chaminade High School on Long Island. He then went on to Wake Forest University, where he studied both finance and global trade and commerce in the undergraduate School of Business. During his time there, Griffin had the opportunity to work in Wake Forest’s $1.4 billion endowment office, engaging closely with the CIO and investment team. 

Griffin resides in New York City and is an active mentor with Student Sponsor Partners, a NYC based nonprofit focused on giving at-risk students an opportunity to receive a non-public high school education. He is an avid golfer and continues to play competitively at the amateur level. In his free time, he also enjoys traveling and reading.

A member of the team since 2004, Carolyn's primary role is relationship management and team administration. She is also a main point of contact for client inquiries, and operational support.

She began her financial services career in 2000, joining Citigroup's Salomon Smith Barney as a sales assistant. In 2008, Carolyn left Citi with fellow team members to join the Private Banking North America business within Credit Suisse and remained there until joining Morgan Stanley in 2015. Carolyn attended St. Johns University, graduating cum laude in 2001 with a degree in criminal justice.

As a member of The Magellan Group since 2009, Joseph focuses primarily on constructing tailored investment portfolios for clients and prospects. This responsibility involves screening and selecting portfolio investments – including structured products, alternative investments, separately managed accounts, mutual funds, and exchange-traded funds. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP") professional, Joseph is qualified to assist clients in reaching their financial goals – incorporating this background in unison with his portfolio analysis responsibilities.

Joseph began his wealth management career in 2007 at Credit Suisse. While at Credit Suisse, he developed an innate understanding of portfolio construction – while properly balancing risk tolerance with performance objectives. In 2013, team management elevated Joseph to lead investment analyst – with a primary focus on new business development. In 2015, Joseph was recognized for the inaugural department Excellence Award – for exhibiting outstanding performance and behavior in positioning Private Banking North America. After garnering valuable experience over 9 years at Credit Suisse, Joseph departed with The Magellan Group in 2015 to Morgan Stanley PWM.

Joseph received a Master of Business Administration degree – with a concentration in management consulting – from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Kenan-Flagler Business School). Additionally, Joseph holds a Master of Arts degree in political science from Long Island University (LIU Post). He also attended LIU for undergraduate studies – graduating magna cum laude – with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. Joseph completed his coursework for the CFP" certification with the New York University (NYU) School of Professional Studies.

Born and raised on Long Island, Joseph currently resides in Riverside, Connecticut – with his wife and three children. In his spare time, Joseph is an avid reader. As a PADI certified rescue scuba diver, Joseph also enjoys furthering his experience and towards attaining master diver status.

A member of the team since 2015, Amani Ahmed provides a broad range of services to clients related to investment research, trading, and business operations. More specifically, Amani supports the team's alternative investment vetting and implementation process.

Amani is from Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Amherst College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Asian Languages and Civilizations. While at Amherst, Amani served as Chair of the Advisory committee to the Students Affairs Office and led the Model United Nations team as President.

In 2011, Amani graduated from Fullbridge at Harvard University, an intensive program designed to prepare professionals for the business and finance world. Soon after, she worked for Quincy Apparel, an e-commerce fashion start-up, working closely with the CEO to develop the Quincy brand, and with the COO to produce financial analysis for the company.

Amani serves on the Executive Board of her class as Reunion Chair and is a member of the Amherst Association of New York. In her spare time, Amani enjoys traveling, reading and watching foreign films.

A member of the team since August 2017, Matthew supports the advisors in a variety of roles. Prior to joining the team, Matthew worked as a client coverage analyst focusing on macro research at Oak Hill Advisors, a distressed and high yield alternative asset manager. Prior to Oak Hill Advisors, Matthew worked at the JPMorgan Private Bank in a group that provided analytics around estate planning, retirement planning and corporate executive compensation

Matthew grew up in Albany, New York and attended high school at The Albany Academy. He went on to attend Wake Forest University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematical Business with a minor in Economics. Matthew graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. 3Matthew currently resides in New Jersey. He is an avid golfer and also enjoys traveling, cooking and watching sports. 3

Michael joined the Magellan Group in 2018 and has over ten years of experience in the financial services industry. Michael supports the team in a variety of roles including account management, client reporting, and business operations. He has been with Morgan Stanley since 2013 where he started in operations specializing in Mutual Funds, 529s, and Corporate Actions. 3From 2016 to 2018, he had worked in the Greenwich, Connecticut branch office of Morgan Stanley supporting multiple financial advisors as a Client Service AssociatePreviously, Mike was a Financial Sales and Service Associate with Nationwide Financial for five years where he specialized in Annuities and Mutual Funds products.

Michael is originally from Columbus, Ohio and made his way over to the east coast where he landed in Greenwich, Connecticut in 2016. He now resides in New York City. In his free time he enjoys watching or playing hockey, watching movies, and traveling

Prior to Morgan Stanley, Faiez worked at Alliance Bernstein in Private Wealth Management, serving ultra-high net worth clients. He has also worked at the National Basketball Association, the New York Yankees, Credit Suisse Private Banking, and the Brooklyn Nets.

Faiez is from Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science from the Industrial and Labor Relations School, focusing on Applied Economics & Management. In 2014, Faiez attended The FullBridge Program at Harvard Business School, an internship-focused business education program.

At Cornell, Faiez was a traditional fellow, a member of the Sports Business Society and a member of the Club Baseball team. Faiez is an avid fan of the Brooklyn Nets and New York Yankees, loves traveling, and is interested in the global expansion of sports.

Collin Beardslee joined the Magellan group in 2018 bringing years of experience in the financial services industry. He is responsible for providing exceptional client service while serving administrative and operational support to the Financial Advisors.

Prior to joining the team, Collin worked with Morgan Stanley's Prospect Management and Client Coverage group. There he protected client relationships by upholding and amending the firm's policies. Additionally, Collin was key in establishing and analyzing new business development initiatives across the firm.

Collin is originally from Long Island, New York. He graduated cum laude from Bryant University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and minor in Computer Information Systems. Collin currently resides in the Upper East Side of Manhattan and enjoys snowboarding and sailing.

Ruhi joined the Magellan Group in 2018 and is focused on client services including administrative, operational, and business-related support functions. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Ruhi was enrolled in the full-time Master of Business Administration program at New York University where she pursued concentrations in Entrepreneurship and Innovation as well as General Management.

Ruhi was born and raised in Northern Virginia and completed her undergraduate studies at Penn State University, State College. In her free time she enjoys playing tennis, traveling, and volunteering with different non-profits in Manhattan.
