Built For Family
No two families are the same. Unique family dynamics result in distinct sets of financial needs and challenges. Often, those needs and challenges can shift as a family continues to grow. At the Hanes Haber Group, we rise to the challenge of multigenerational wealth. Here’s how:
Our Multigenerational DNA
Put simply, we’re a multigenerational wealth management team –– with advisors and support staff representing every generation from Baby Boomer to Millennial. Not only does that mean we’re able to offer a long-term continuity of care; it also gives us a communication advantage right now. We understand the mindset of people in their 20s and 30s. And when we meet with your adult children and grandchildren, we’re able to help empower them with a financial education that aligns with their values and perspectives.
Our Multigenerational Commitment
With many of our clients, we’ve been fortunate to work across two, three, and even four generations. We don’t take that responsibility lightly. Because we know firsthand what it entails: being a guiding light and a supportive hand in life’s most difficult moments. Maybe it’s the unexpected passing of a loved one. A sudden health emergency. A divorce. A hard decision about long-term care. These are the kinds of trials that every family must endure. And while they’re extremely trying from an emotional standpoint, they can also present tricky financial challenges. We pride ourselves on being an objective, empathetic resource in those times you and your family need it most.
Boutique Services:
We like to describe our team as “a small business within a huge company.” Not only do we bring together a diverse skillset and deep well of knowledge developed from 110+ years of combined experience ; we also back our individual strengths with the world-class resource of Morgan Stanley. This means we’re able to help address the unique challenges of high-net-worth and manage every aspect of your financial life.
For example, we can help you:
• Leverage your corporate equity package in a tax-efficient manner
• Decide what charitable giving strategies can optimize your impact at your preferred non-profit organization
• Protect your assets against volatility with non-market-correlated investments
• Maintain an objective outlook in turbulent moments
But while we offer the resources of a global wealth management powerhouse, we provide the personal service of a boutique firm. In other words, we take a huge platform of research, technology, and other resources and use it to create a highly customized, personable, and nimble approach for your specific needs and goals. When you call, we answer. When you email, we write back the same day. We make ourselves available to you for whatever you need, whenever you need it. After all, we view our client relationships as lifelong commitments.

All parents want security for their children’s future. So in 2012, when various exemptions for the federal estate tax were set to expire, our team spent much of the year’s end collaborating with our clients’ and their estate attorneys to help them retitle and reallocate assets. It was a very busy time for us, but knowing how important this work was, we took the time to comb through every one of our clients to make sure no one missed the cutoff.
For one of our clients, a mother and father of four, it turned out our call was the first time either had heard of the rule changes. Understandably, they were quite alarmed at the news, and frustrated that their estate attorney had failed to inform them.
Immediately, we arranged several meetings. Our goal was to help get them up to speed on what changes were coming, inform them of how other clients were responding, and encourage them to meet with their estate attorney as soon as possible to find out what strategy best suited their needs. That’s just what they did. And with all of us collaborating, they were able to find a solution just in time.
Since then, this client has often expressed a deep appreciation for our vigilance, and for the peace of mind they were able to gain from knowing their children were secure. In fact, we now manage two trusts to help further secure their family, and we’ve even begun to work directly with the next generation as they start families of their own.
Takeaway
We share this story because it helps define what we mean when we say we’re a comprehensive resource. For us, comprehensive means going above and beyond our job description. It means collaborating with your professional network of attorneys and accountants. Picking up the phone to make a “just in case” call. It means coming into the office on a Saturday, if that’s what fits your schedule, or hopping on a video call at 9 PM. It means putting ourselves in your shoes. Being your second set of eyes. Staying on top of your deadlines. Essentially it means doing whatever it takes to help protect your two most valuable assets –– your family and your future.

Meet The Hanes Haber Group
About Josh Haber
Josh Haber is an Executive Director, Wealth Management and Financial Advisor with The Hanes Haber Group at Morgan Stanley. With over two decades of industry experience, he helps executives, business owners, and families overcome the uniquely complex challenges of high-net-worth wealth.
In fact, Josh has spent his entire professional career pursuing that mission. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Management from Quinnipiac University in 1999, he entered the industry that same year with Citibank’s high-net-worth platform, Citigold. In 2004, he co-founded The Hanes Haber Group in an effort to offer his clients the kind of comprehensive resources and diverse competencies needed to help manage the many different facets of their financial lives. It was with that same motivation that he worked to earn his Certified Financial Planner® designation from New York University’s Stern School of Business in 2005; and, likewise, why he brought the team over to Morgan Stanley in 2021.
As Co-founder of The Hanes Haber Group, Josh primarily heads the team’s investment committee, which provides strategy creation, ongoing portfolio analysis, and coordination of the team’s selected asset managers. Because his clients often come to him with distinct objectives and challenges, he is committed to designing custom strategies for each client that align with their larger financial plan. Over the years, Josh has helped families protect and grow their legacy across generations. He’s helped executives make the most of their equity packages as they transition into retirement. He’s helped business owners find the optimal investment platforms for their 401(k) plans.
For decades to come, Josh and his team are committed to working toward clients’ long-term goals with customized strategies to help mitigate risk along the way. A testament to his excellence and commitment, Forbes has twice named Josh a Best-in-State Wealth Advisor in 2018 and 2019.
Outside the office, Josh lives in Westchester with his wife and their three children. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and travelling together for a weekend of skiing or fishing, or a vacation abroad.

Maggie Patrick came to Morgan Stanley in April, 2022, and was a Senior Financial Advisor at
Merrill Lynch for seven years before that. She has worked in financial services since 2011.
Maggie became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, CFP® in 2016, which has shaped her wealth management philosophy. She manages investments for the long-term, with a highly
disciplined focus on asset allocation, diversification and prudent rebalancing. In 2015 she
obtained the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst®, CDFA® designation, to provide guidance and
investment advice to clients going through divorce. She works in service to her client’s long term
goals, and over time has developed close relationships with her clients and their families.
At Morgan Stanley she uses comprehensive cutting-edge financial strategies to serve the
financial needs of a broad range of clients. The services she offers cover many aspects of
family wealth management, including cost-efficient investment portfolios, retirement planning,
mortgages, education planning, aging parent issues, assisted living care, legacy, estate
planning and trust services. Because all clients view their finances in a unique way, the
guidance Maggie offers is individually tailored. Typically the advisor-client discussion boils down
to one question: what is the purpose of your money?
Regardless of where clients are in life, Maggie focuses on their needs within the context of
recent events, and acts as a resource for solving all financial questions related to work and
retirement, education planning, living situation and lifestyle. For every client, creates a
complementary financial plan that gives clients a picture of their possible financial trajectory,
and can act as a template for future planning. Maggie makes herself available to consult with a
client’s legal and taxation professionals to provide an integrated experience and simplify her
client’s lives.
Maggie graduated from Bowdoin College and received her financial planning certification at New York University’s Center for Finance, Law and Taxation. She volunteers for Savvy
Ladies®, providing free financial education and individual consulting for women at risk. She has
also been interviewed and has led seminars both live and online for organizations that support
women going through divorce, such as Untied®, and Support and Solutions for Women®. During the pandemic she became a New York State Emergency Medical Technician and volunteered on the ambulance with the Briarcliff Fire Department. She raised three children, now young adults, as a single parent and lives in Briarcliff Manor, New York.

2When Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC, its affiliates and Morgan Stanley Financial Advisors and Private Wealth Advisors (collectively, “Morgan Stanley”) provide “investment advice” regarding a retirement or welfare benefit plan account, an individual retirement account or a Coverdell education savings account (“Retirement Account”), Morgan Stanley is a “fiduciary” as those terms are defined under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, as amended (“ERISA”), and/or the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (the “Code”), as applicable. When Morgan Stanley provides investment education, takes orders on an unsolicited basis or otherwise does not provide “investment advice”, Morgan Stanley will not be considered a “fiduciary” under ERISA and/or the Code. 8Alternative Investments are speculative and include a high degree of risk. An investor could lose all or a substantial amount of his/her investment. Alternative investments are appropriate only for qualified, long-term investors who are willing to forgo liquidity and put capital at risk for an indefinite period of time.

10Participating in a new issue/syndicate is subject to availability. IPOs are highly speculative and may not be appropriate for all investors because they lack a stock-trading history and usually involve smaller and newer companies that tend to have limited operating histories, less-experienced management teams, and fewer products or customers. Also, the offering price of an IPO reflects a negotiated estimate as to the value of the company, which may bear little relationship to the trading price of the securities, and it is not uncommon for the closing price of the shares shortly after the IPO to be well above or below the offering price.
11Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not accept appointments nor will it act as a trustee but it will provide access to trust services through an appropriate third-party corporate trustee.
