We always try to present why another course of action might be chosen. However, we always make clear our recommendation.We respect our clients and understand they are smart. We understand they are busy and need efficient and effective strategies to correspond not only with their goals and objectives but also with their lifestyle and comfort level. Our focus is to boil down everything to clear decision points to enable our clients to control their finances instead of being overwhelmed by them. This is done through regular communication either in quarterly meetings or conference calls. Additionally, we are proactive and contact clients as market environments warrant attention. However, we also stress that it is a client’s responsibility to reach out proactively to initiate dialogue when they have any questions or concerns. We are very responsive and committed to answering questions in a timely manner. We have found over the last 20 years that this type of relationship works well through good and bad market cycles. As long as clients are connected and continually apprised of their investment strategy, they maintain course and stay focused on the purpose of their holdings. Time and again, this has proven to be invaluable.

About Me

Bob Gibbons is a Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley.  He joined the firm over 20 years ago to work as a Financial Advisor upon graduation from the University of Richmond in Virginia.  He started his career working in downtown Manhattan at Morgan Stanley’s Flagship Office in Two World Trade Center.

Bob has extensive experience working with high net worth families to develop, implement and monitor tailored investment strategies.  He is client-centric and focused on working to create lasting relationships.  Through extensive communication, Bob utilizes his portfolio experience to bring clients to clear decision points to allow them to feel confident and comfortable they are making educated decisions.

By sitting at the same side of the table as opposed to dictating from on high, he has found The Fulcrum New York Group to provide clients the focus to remain true to their investment strategy during both the wildly positive and equally negative market environments we have experienced during the last two decades.

Bob is married to his high school sweetheart and lives with his two children in Connecticut.  He is an avid skier, golfer and tennis player and spends the weekends traveling to his children’s sporting events.

About Me

Tom started his financial career in 1996 at Dean Witter Trust, and soon became a financial Advisor at Oppenheimer.  At Oppenheimer, he was introduced to Managed Money or working with private asset managers.  He was recruited to Laidlaw Global Securities to create and build an asset management division. In April of 1999, Smith Barney (now Morgan Stanley) recruited Tom to improve and build upon their financial planning process. This has become the backbone to Tom’s planning process.

His thorough understanding of corporate stock options along with retirement income planning enables him to build balanced portfolios by using a blend of many asset classes including stocks and bonds. Tom believes it is thrill to help corporate executives put together a tax efficient strategy to reduce exposure to concentrated stock positions.

He is involved with the following organizations: NestUSA.org, Central Park, Whitney, Shine and GLAAD.  Tom also serves on the advisory board of NestUSA.org which provides free software to improve English literacy for grades K-3.

Tom earned his Bachelor’s of Science from College of Charleston with a minor in French.  In 1995, after college, he moved to NYC without a job, a place to live or ever visiting the city.  Essentially, he loaded up the U-Haul and moved to NYC to see the world.  While most people would view this as a big risk, Tom would argue that the real risk was not taking the risk.  New York City has been his personal MBA program in food, culture and work experience.

Tom resides in Midtown Manhattan. He likes to spend his time reading science fiction, seeing plays, movies and enjoys Citi-biking around town.  In the summer, he plays softball with the Big Apple Softball League.

About Me

Peter Knowles is a Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley and a Founding Partner in The Fulcrum New York Group.  He began his career at Merrill Lynch after graduation from Fairleigh Dickinson University where he was Captain of the Men’s Lacrosse Team.  At Merrill Lynch, he served high net worth clients to create financial plans and strategies.

In 2011, Peter became a partner in the group.  As a sought after speaker, he has been a guest on the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ to discuss his team’s and Morgan Stanley’s opinions on the current markets.

Peter is from Long Island, NY and currently resides in Westchester, NY with his wife, who is Chair of a local high school Science Department, and their daughter, Madonna.  He is active in many organizations including Fairleigh Dickinson Alumni Association, Board Member of The Jillian E. Daly Foundation, and Bulls Men’s Lacrosse Club.  On weekends he enjoys spending time with his family playing golf, fishing, skiing and traveling to Long Island to see their families.
