Our Story and Services

We strive to be trusted advisors to the families and businesses we work with, by solving problems through client-centered financial solutions. This has provided a platform for cherished relationships over the years. Many clients have been with us since day one, and we are now blessed to work with their children and grandchildren.

Our team presents a united front in our financial planning and investment philosophies. We have each increased our experience in specific areas—Dwight in insurance and annuities and Garrett in financial planning and investment selection/allocation. These concentrations help us provide specific advice in the context of the larger, more comprehensive wealth management approach we collectively provide.

Nothing is more rewarding than the relief on our client’s faces when we can mitigate stress around money. This basic life necessity, and the range of opportunities it provides our clients, is the greatest gift of all.

We want the best for our clients and refuse to be distracted by unsubstantiated trends or hype. If you do what’s right you don’t have to worry about the money following and we generate success for our clients based on this tenant every day.

Our Clients

We attract clients who value hard work and the success it provides for their families. Often, they’re too busy to manage their financial lives or find the resources to do so. There is a real need for help, education and awareness—this is where we come in.

Rather than sourcing clients from exclusively within the city, we reach out to those individuals who might not otherwise be approached about their financial planning needs. We seek out families and small-town entrepreneurs who, like us, have built their practices on loyalty and community values. We relate to them, and have the capacity to make a large impact on their lives as a result.

In addition to general financial planning, we also provide for clients with unique needs. Many small business owners build relationships on trust and want to properly provide for their employees.

Our clients from smaller surrounding towns also appreciate the anonymity that working with an advisory team in Omaha affords. We share the same values as our clients, but don’t compromise their privacy by running in the same circles.

Working With You

Every client we work with presents a different situation, set of challenges, and potential solutions. However, our process for uncovering these is the same with every client. Decades of experience have taught us that we can never be too thorough in ensuring we do everything we can for clients. The results are always different and always comprehensive, enabling us to create highly personalized financial plans and investment strategies for each individual, family, or business.

Your Financial Plan

Financial planning is a recent positive shift in the industry. Dwight applied financial planning concepts well before the tools were created, and now Garrett, who is highly experienced in financial planning, applies his knowledge to the process as well.

Garrett’s previous role as a wealth advisor associate at Morgan Stanley uniquely prepared him as a financial planner. Required to work diligently on financial plans for brokers at Morgan Stanley offices in Nebraska and Iowa, he accessed the perspectives of several practices and witnessed the positive impact financial planning has on clients. This experience, coupled with the robust planning resources provided by Morgan Stanley, enables us to create realistic and manageable plans for clients so they can live the lives they want both now and in the future.

11Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
