Our Story and Services

Welcome to the Doolin Group

Whether you’re a loyal client or someone considering our services for the first time, we hope you’ll take time to get to know us. You’ll find that we go beyond traditional wealth management by offering inter-generational wealth planning tools, guidance and educational opportunities other advisors are not offering. We’ll prepare your entire family to prosper and thrive, and prepare your beneficiaries to responsibly use wealth to achieve their life goals and aspirations. This is one of the reasons we founded Client University two decades ago as an annual day of learning on topics that range from trends in investments, estate and tax planning, and charitable giving, to non-financial strategies for preserving family values along with family wealth.

Who We Serve

For nearly three decades, we’ve never wavered from our belief that financial advising is more than preparing clients to achieve their financial goals. It’s about building relationships through making a positive difference in the lives of a client’s entire family. By “family,” we mean individuals and all couples and those they hold dear. We serve successful individuals, generational families and business owners. We also serve women of all ages . . . all stages in life . . . and all levels of wealth, empowering them with the knowledge, tools and guidance needed to assume greater responsibility for their financial futures and those of their families. Read more about Diane's recognition as a Forbes Top 250 Women Wealth Advisor, and also as a Forbes Best-in-State Wealth Advisor.

Our Approach

We always prioritize what is in your family’s best interest—a core value shared by every member of our group. We start with the questions: “What is most important to you and to the people you care about most?” and “What causes do you hold dear?” Then we create a comprehensive plan tailored to your needs, goals, and aspirations . . . and the future success of your entire family.

The Trusted Family Advisor—one who takes traditional wealth planning to a new level of advice and services by including the success of the entire family, today and in future generations—is a concept we pioneered at the Doolin Group. In doing so, we redefined family wealth to include more than cash, bonds, equities, ownership interests and real property. Family wealth also includes a family’s name, knowledge, health, spirituality, family unity and support of community. Read below about what's at stake when family wealth passes to the children.

Our Process

For nearly three decades, we have been privileged to serve extraordinary families—couples with children, single parent families and other couples as well—, each with their own set of financial needs, goals and aspirations.  View Our Family Financial Process below.

We share with you how we can prepare your family for a successful transfer of wealth to include transferring your values and sense of purpose your family shares:
- Check your family’s readiness for successful wealth transition
- Organize important documents related to your investments with our Family Records Organizer below
- Provide guidance on when to contact us in the event of an emergency
- Inform family members about serving as the executor or trustee and what these important family roles involve
- Offer family financial education / mentoring for family members
- Start your family giving program—what’s involved and the benefits to your family and the community
- Offer guidance for developing a written Family Wealth Mission Statement to align the family around its shared values and priorities for how it will use its wealth

For Women

Over the next decade, women will control two-thirds of the wealth in the U.S. Most women we speak with carry serious concerns about this responsibility. It’s one of the reasons we’ve made family financial leadership for women a core focus of our business.

At The Doolin Group, we understand and appreciate the important, but often indirect, role women play in the financial well-being of their families, which includes preparing their children to use wealth to foster their development and achieve their goals and aspirations.

We are known for the services and programs we offer all women:

- Subscribe to our newsletter, Insights For Women. Read below.
- Attend our special event, A Briefing for Women: Assuming the Mantle of Family Financial Leadership. Learn more below.
- Take our Family Financial Readiness checklist that asks 10 key questions
- Request our whitepaper, Family Wealth and the Emerging Role For Women: Assuming The Mantle of Family Financial Leadership
- Read our article, What Women Should Be Asking Their Financial Advisor, below
- Request our Family Records Organizer for important documents

We welcome the opportunity to meet with you in person and share what we can do for you now:

- Become your family’s “quarterback” by bringing all your professional advisors together to coordinate their advice on your behalf
- Explain your options for managing your investments, now and in the future
- Tailor financial education and mentoring for family members
- Explain future family roles—the executor, trustee and beneficiary—and what’s involved
- Work with the family’s financial and estate plans and the impact on you and your beneficiaries
- Establish a family giving program to unify the family around shared values
- Designate a point person with access to all documents and accounts in the event of an emergency

An advocate for women as family financial leaders, Diane is proud to have been recognized multiple times by Forbes and Barron's.

For Business Owners

Your current success requires years of focus, discipline and hard work . . . often leaving little time to plan for the family’s financial future and long-term wellbeing.

At The Doolin Group, we offer a balanced approach to comprehensive wealth management for business owners. This includes generational wealth planning advice and practical, usable tools to align the entire family around shared values, and the purpose for your wealth. And we understand the complexities of business succession planning—whether you plan to sell, hold or prepare a buyout by family or employees. Each choice creates important issues that we can help you address as well as refer you to outside resources, when needed. We believe it is important to take into account the relationships in your life and those of your family as you begin planning for business succession. Learn more about how we work with families.

From wealth preservation and financial security, to reaching financial and life goals, you can rely on us to protect and preserve what you’ve worked so hard to build. Read more about the reputation we've established at The Doolin Group, with Diane having been recognized as a Forbes Magazine Best-in-State Wealth Advisor, and as one of a select few to attend the Barron's Winners' Circle Top Women Advisors Summit.

Client University

Two decades ago we founded Client University as an annual daylong educational event for clients and their families, guests and other professional advisors.

Empowering clients with knowledge through learning is a cornerstone of The Doolin Group—whether you’ve already achieved your financial and life goals, or are just beginning the journey.

Over the years, Client University has evolved to feature more than twenty nationally recognized speakers who share new ideas and new strategies on topics that range from trends in investments, retirement, estate and tax planning, and charitable giving – to non-financial strategies for preserving family values along with family wealth. More recently, classes were added especially for young adults. The event has become an annual tradition for families to attend together.

Among the noteworthy speakers who have joined us over the years include:

- Dr. Richard Marston, James Guy Professor of Finance at Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, who traditionally delivers the opening address on the upcoming year’s economic outlook for investors of all ages and stages in life
- Dr. Wade Davis, world renowned National Geographic Explorer, photographer, writer, and filmmaker, whose captivating photography and storytelling sheds light on a lifetime of exploration and discovery of at-risk cultures and societies
- Dave Berkus, technology futurist, who shares the latest trends in technology that are driving investing and entrepreneurism
- Victor Preisser, Founding Director of the Institute for Preparing Heirs, whose insights into the impact of family dynamics on family wealth are changing how families prepare for wealth transfer
