Experience

The Curtis Group, founded in 1985, offers a plethora of industry experience to its clientele. Currently comprising of 17 people in its Palo Alto location, the Curtis Group combines the resources of Graystone Consulting, and Morgan Stanley's Corporate Client Group to address the needs of affluent investors, family offices, tech entrepreneurs, foundations, endowments and corporate services for public and private companies. The variety of services and areas of focus that the team offers go far beyond the normal expectations of wealth management.

Mark Curtis, the lead financial advisor, has consistently been ranked by Barron's and other leading industry magazines as one of the industry's top financial advisors. He is a recipient of the Harry B. Irvine Award of Smith Barney Consulting Group's Consultant of the Year and has served as co-chairman of Morgan Stanley's Director Advisory Group and as president of the Association of Professional Investment Consultants (APIC). The Curtis Group is extremely well-connected in Silicon Valley, with Mark serving as an Operating Partner for Morgan Stanley Expansion Capital and an Advisory Board Member to Sobrato Capital, Riverwood Capital.

About Mark T Curtis

Mark Curtis is a Managing Director - Investments & Wealth Management of Graystone Consulting, a division of Morgan Stanley (and its predecessor firms). His advisory business includes affluent investors, foundations, endowments and corporate services for public and private companies.

Mark has consistently been ranked by leading industry magazines, such as Barron’s Magazine, Registered Rep. Magazine, San Francisco Bizjournal, Financial Times and American Top Advisors. The most recent 2024 “Barron’s–Top 100 Financial Advisors Rankings” recognized him as the #1 advisor in America and also highlighted him as one of the “Stalwart 15” an exclusive award recognizing the 15 financial advisors appearing in every Barron’s top 100 ranking since the inception of the list in 2004.
Mark sits on the advisory boards of Riverwood Capital and previously, he served as co-chairman of Morgan Stanley’s Director Advisory Group and as president of the Association of Professional Investment Consultants (APIC).

About Thomas McCue

A member of The Curtis Group for more than three decades, Tom McCue brings an experienced perspective to the complex financial needs of affluent individuals, corporations and family offices. Serving as the team’s Director of Investments, Tom focuses on investment selection and asset allocation, and oversees many of the team’s strategic fixed income relationships.

Tom joined a predecessor of Morgan Stanley in 1985 after graduating from of the University of California-Davis with a B.A. in economics. A Bay Area native, Tom and his wife, Dana, have three adult children and now live in Palo Alto with their beagle, Buck. He is an avid Bay Area Sports fan, whose passions include golf, travel and family.

About Steve Bono

Steve joined Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in November 2023 as a Financial Advisor and member of The Curtis Group based in Palo Alto, California.

With over 20 years of industry experience, Steve enjoys connecting personally with each of his clients to get to know them and their families. He provides customized financial solutions for high-net-worth individuals and families, non-profits, small and medium size businesses, and executives of private and public companies.

Previously Steve was a Wealth Manager with First Republic Investment Management based on the Peninsula. Prior to joining First Republic in 2015, Steve was a Principal at Constellation Wealth Advisors where he focused his efforts on business development. Preceding Constellation, he worked in the venture services arm of the Investment Banking Division at ThinkEquity Partners. In that role, he focused on marketing to the venture capital community as well as assisting in raising money for both public and private companies.

Prior to his career in financial services, Steve was an NFL quarterback for 15 years with seven teams. He continues to be involved with the San Francisco 49ers organization and their Foundation.
Steve graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Business.
In his spare time, Steve enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and playing golf. Steve and his wife Tina have two adult children and live in Palo Alto.

A member of The Curtis Group since 2015, Alex Curtis crafts highly customized wealth management solutions for high net worth individual, institutional and corporate clients. Alex also supports marketing and strategic initiatives and co-runs a reinvestment business that stems from relationships with the team’s corporate clientele. This effort involves working with over 250 Financial Advisors and advisory teams across the country. Alex manages the team's relationship with Nasdaq Private Market, a joint initiative that provides wealth management education and services to participants in private company liquidity programs.

In 2021, Alex was named to the Morgan Stanley Pacesetter’s Club, a global recognition program for Financial Advisors who have demonstrated the highest professional standards and first- class client service early in their career. He began his professional career at Addepar, a financial technology and reporting startup, after graduating from Claremont McKenna College with a B.A. in government.

About Terry Joerger

A member of the Curtis Group for over 37 years, Terry Joerger provides essential performance reporting to endowments, foundations and family office clients. Her efforts include everything from assisting with the crafting of investment policy statements to performance analysis. Working closely with investment committees and boards to help them pursue their stated investment objectives, Terry takes pride in helping clients give back to the communities they support.

Born and raised in Sunnyvale, California, Terry has spent all but one year of her professional career at Morgan Stanley and its predecessor firms. She started at EF Hutton in 1985.

When not at work, Terry enjoys skiing, mountain biking, hiking and fly fishing.

About Philip Moffatt

Philip Moffatt first joined Morgan Stanley in 2019 working for a Graystone Consulting team in Austin TX. In 2020, he joined the Graystone – The Palo Alto Group, where he now serves as a Senior Registered Associate. Philip’s primary focus is the account management for Private Wealth Clients and Corporate Retirement Plans. His responsibilities include client reporting, analytics, and client service. Philip holds a B.A in Economics and Business from Southwestern University. Series 7 and Series 66 Licensed

About Proteek Biswas

A member of the team since 2021, Proteek Biswas provides institutional-level consulting and wealth management services to high net worth individuals, endowments and foundations. Among his many responsibilities, he conducts research on third-party fund managers, assists in portfolio construction and creates performance reports.

Prior to joining the Curtis Group, Proteek served as an Investment Advisor at PNC Institutional Asset Management for five years. He earned a B.S. in management from the Case Western Reserve University.

Born and raised in San Jose, California, Proteek grew up speaking Bengali as well as English. Outside the office, he enjoys working out, playing sports and spending time with his dog, Luka.

About Heather Wong

Heather first joined Morgan Stanley in 2021 as a PWM Analyst, focuses on providing technical analysis on strategic investments for high net-worth clients . In 2024, she joined The Curtis Group as Wealth Management Analyst. Her responsibilities includes providing performance review and constructing investment strategy for private and institutional clients.

Prior to her experience with Morgan Stanley, Heather began her career as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch when she first graduated from San Jose State University with B.S. in Data Analytics.

Born in Texas and raised in Cupertino, California. She enjoys all kind of outdoor activities, such as surfing, hiking & running.

About Nora Zele

Nora Zele has over 25 years of experience in the financial industry, including the last five years with The Curtis Group. At the team’s lead administrator, she assists clients with an extensive range of inquiries and requests. She also oversees a smooth and efficient onboarding process for new clients.

Prior to her current positions, Nora served as a Registered Client Associate with Wells Fargo Advisors. She began her career as a Loss Prevention Analyst at Franklin Templeton after earning her B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Irvine.

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area, Nora enjoys CrossFit, indoor rock climbing, hiking, reading and baking.

About Sigal R. Barak

Sigal joined Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in April 2024 as a Client Services Associate and member of The Curtis Group based in Palo Alto, California. She supports the team’s clients and Advisors across a broad range of investment management and operational responsibilities.
Prior to joining the Curtis Group, she was an Advisory Analyst at Deloitte. Sigal earned her B.A. in Business Administration-Finance from The George Washington University.

About Elizabeth Kent Levy

Elizabeth Kent-Levy has nearly three decades of experience as a financial advisor and senior client service professional, all focused on the needs of ultra high net worth clients. Elizabeth plays a key role in the team’s business operations, supporting the delivery of Morgan Stanley’s wealth management capabilities, solutions and resources to select clientele of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, corporate executives and their families.

Elizabeth began her career with Morgan Stanley in 1995 and rose to her current position in 2023. She had previously worked with teams in Houston, Los Angeles, Hartford and Menlo Park, California. Earlier in her career, Elizabeth and her husband built a successful financial advisory practice. She transitioned to a support professional role when they had children. Elizabeth has enjoyed the client service side of the business and continues to focus on delivering an excellent standard of care, and outstanding and responsive service.

Elizabeth earned a B.S. from Texas A&M University. She lives in Mountain View, California, with her husband and two daughters.

About Richard Catipon

Rich Catipon brings 11 years of experience at Morgan Stanley to his role as the group’s lead Financial Planning Analyst. His primary focus is on the design of comprehensive financial plans, plan implementation and stock optimization strategies. Rich earned his B.A. in economics from Chico State University.
