About James Stevens

I chose to be a financial advisor because it gives me the opportunity to build deep understanding and relationships with clients, and the joy of helping them plan and execute to achieve their goals. I explore and analyze every available option to help my clients make smart financial decisions on both sides of their balance sheet, and help filter through the constant bombardment of information that we all experience to find the facts. I am direct and honest, and serve as a unbiased and non-judgmental sounding board.

I'm a student of investment management, economics, and the capital markets, having earned my CFA®, CFP®, and MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in corporate finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Before becoming a financial advisor, I worked as financial planner for Morgan Stanley advisors in the Puget Sound region. I also worked in the capital markets research group of an institutional investment consulting firm, and in non-profit microfinance and SME lending in the Middle East. I earned my BA from Kenyon College in Gambier, OH, majoring in Political Science and English Literature.

I'm originally from Upstate New York, and moved to Washington with my wife Kim after graduate school, and we live in Carnation with our daughter Miranda. I’m an Eagle Scout, enjoy volunteering and serving our community, helping with non-profit causes, and I am a member of Seattle Rotary 4. I've also always loved the outdoors, one of my favorite things about living in Washington, and outside of work I can usually be found outdoors exploring the Pacific Northwest.
