Our Story

Welcome to our page! We are The Elevage Group. What is Elevage? We’re so glad you asked.

Elevage is the process of transforming grapes into wine. Of course, the quality of the grape matters when making wine, but it is with the skilled hand of the vintner that the grape’s full potential is realized.

Much like the vintner’s creative and careful approach elevates the simple grape, we believe that over time, a thoughtful and collaborative approach with our clients can potentially result in a refined transformation of their financial lives.

We’re humbled by the fact that many families and individuals who come to us for guidance have been personally introduced by one of our existing clients or by another trusted advisor. Regardless of how you landed on our page and what is driving your curiosity to learn more about our team, we’re glad you’re here.

We think that because our practice is client-centered, the best possible way to learn more about us is to learn more about whom we serve.

We work with high net-worth families and individuals who are ambitious and making progress towards living their best lives. They’re goal-oriented, and we help them feel empowered through the process of working with a team to articulate and quantify those goals.

Our clients often come to us at the height of a busy career or a life transition and are looking for a trusted advisor to whom they can delegate the crucial work of helping keep their finances in line with their dreams. Sometimes this is an exciting event like the sale of a business or taking their company public; other times we are brought in to help work through a difficult transition, like a divorce. Whatever is prompting the desire to seek our counsel, we work through change with our clients to help them see their new futures more clearly.

In addition, for many of the clients we work with, living their best lives means using their resources to support causes that bring their lives meaning. This can be as simple as leveraging Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) analytics when constructing their portfolio to highly customized charitable gifting strategies. We’re inspired by our clients who wish to make a positive impact and are motivated to allow us to help add our energy behind supporting their vision.

Our individual pages provide more detail on our backgrounds and personal passions. We look forward to the opportunity to connect with you.

About Caroline L Gates

I feel fortunate to have always done work that is interesting and challenging. From traveling the world with ESPN while working on the X Games, to wealth management, I've been fortunate to love what I do.

At Morgan Stanley, I work with my clients to establish and manage a thoughtful and customized financial roadmap. How? My team works with our clients to craft an individualized and exhaustive plan in which we prioritize their goals, establish risk tolerance vs. current portfolio construction, and evaluate cash flow, liabilities and assets.

Why is that important?

Portfolio performance alone may not preserve and grow wealth. Thoughtful and tax efficient management balance sheets helps achieve those goals. So, when the inevitable ups and downs of the markets come, our clients are not riding an emotional roller coaster. Because, together, we've built a framework around which to make financial decisions which helps to ensure we're always acting as a team focused on those long-term goals. This helps keep financial decisions objective, not emotional.

My investment philosophy seeks to utilize impact investment strategies which meet specific environmental, social and governance standards. This allows my clients wealth to compound in a deliberate and purposeful manner. I advise in estate planning strategies so my clients can create a thoughtful legacy for the future. My client service associate handles day to day needs. All of this enables us to provide highly personalized service, backed by the global resources of Morgan Stanley.

On a personal note, I am a mom, wife, avid snowboarder, voracious reader and football fan. I've worked on four continents and speak fluent Spanish and am proficient in German and Portuguese.

About Evan Manson

My approach is rooted in the belief that wealth has distinctly different needs and, thus, deserves a unique level of care. As the complexities of wealth management and investment planning continue to evolve, our team focuses on delivering a simplified financial strategy that leaves clients feeling both informed and confident.

While leveraging the global resources of Morgan Stanley, our team aims to educate affluent individuals on the life cycles of wealth: accumulation, preservation, and distribution. The foundation of our partnership is a customized financial plan, unique to each client. Throughout this plan, we prioritize a deep understanding of personal and financial goals, risk tolerance, cash flow and liquidity needs, as well as current and future liabilities and assets. Using this information, we work collaboratively with individuals and their families in the pursuit of short and long-term financial wellness and a well-aligned legacy.

After graduating from Harvard/Radcliffe Colleges with a degree in sociology and receiving my law degree from Columbia Law School, I spent over 16 years practicing corporate law in New York, the last decade as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of a hedge fund. This passion led me to become a CFP® in 2024.

Having grown up in St. Louis and lived 30 years on the East Coast, I’m thrilled to now live in the Denver area. My preeminent passion is travel: I’ve visited all 7 continents. My husband and I have 3 sons and 2 dogs In my spare time, I like to rock climb, listen to all types of music (especially jazz and classical), try different cuisines and intensely compete with friends and family in marathon sessions of poker and almost any other game.
