About Jack Carvalho

Jack Carvalho
Managing Director, Private Wealth Advisor

Jack Carvalho has over 29 years of investment industry experience across three distinct banking verticals: Public Finance, Institutional Fixed Income Sales& Trading, and Private Wealth Management. Jack focuses on Asset Allocation, Fixed Income strategy and execution, Capital Markets trading, and Hedging. He holds Alternative Investment Director, Senior Institutional Consultant and International Client Advisor designations. He is currently a Member of the American Economics Association, the Southern Institute for International Studies and the Investments & Wealth Institute.

On the philanthropic front, Jack has established three major scholarship endowments for first generation college students, like himself, for his Alma maters. At the University of Massachusetts Boston he established the Roger Feinstein fund for first generation undergraduate students and the Winston Langley fund for students in the McCormick Graduate School of Government. At the University of Alabama, he established the John E. Gann fund for first generation undergraduate students in business at the Culverhouse School of Business. Jack is also the largest donor to the University of Massachusetts Boston Lacrosse program.

Jack received his B.A. from the University of Massachusetts Boston and an M.B.A. from the Manderson Graduate School of Business at the University of Alabama. He currently resides with his family in Downtown Miami.

About Whit Yates

Whit Yates
Managing Director, Private Wealth Advisor

Whit Yates has over 24 years of experience working with sophisticated investors. Whit is heavily involved in Asset Allocation and has extensive knowledge in monetizing and hedging concentrated equity positions. He is both a Senior Institutional Consultant and International Client Advisor.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2017, Whit was a MD at Jefferies & Co. Whit began his career in banking at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jennrette and worked as an Executive Compensation Consultant at Ernst & Young, LLP. He was named one of “Barron’s Top 1200 Advisors” by Barron’s Magazine in 2012.

Whit holds a PhD in Business from Georgia State University and has a B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of Georgia. His Doctoral Dissertation is titled “Advisory Firm Employee Ownership and Performance in Separately Managed Accounts”. Whit was also a Post Graduate Fellow at Oxford University. He lives in Atlanta, GA with his family.

About Kimberly Garland

Kim Garland joined Morgan Stanley in 2017 and has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. Instrumental in the daily operations and management of The Carvalho/Yates Group, Kim serves as the team's COO. She is responsible for ensuring business operations are efficient and effective, developing and executing strategic business plans, relationship management and strengthening firm relationships. She works collaboratively with the team’s financial advisors to provide the highest quality of individualized service to key clients. Her responsibilities include managing trading platforms across a broad range of securities products, performance reporting and implementing strategy.

Kim has been with The Carvalho/Yates Group since 2001. She began her career in financial services at Merrill Lynch working with Employee Stock Purchase Plans and Executive Stock Option Plans for Fortune 500 companies. Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida. She is registered with FINRA and SEC with Series 7, 63, and 65 registrations.

About Aymara C. Salazar

A Florida International University triple major graduate, Aymara entered the financial services industry in 2019. During the course of her studies, she mastered the concepts of Foreign Investments with an International Business, Supply Chain Management and International Marketing dual-degree, and a focus on delivering personalized service through her operational background in the supply chain solutions industry.

Aymara began her career at Morgan Stanley within the Operations division, allowing her to gain a deep understanding of the day-to-day service operations of the business, and enabling her to anticipate and address our client's needs in an accurate, timely manner. She joined The Carvalho-Yates team in 2020 with a primary focus on building relationships with new clients and becoming a first point of contact with prospects and potential new business.

Born and raised in Venezuela, Aymara is fluent in Spanish, English and Intermediate in Portuguese. She spends her spare time practicing challenging aerial arts, and finding interesting, nutritious ways to recreate fast foods into healthier versions. She is registered with FINRA and SEC with Series 7 and 66 registrations.

About Erika Carlson

Erika Carlson joined Morgan Stanley in 2023 and is a Client Service Associate with The Carvalho-Yates Group. Her primary focus is on providing first-class client service and strategic operational and administrative support to the group's clients. She is the first point of contact for many client questions, opens and monitors new and managed accounts and handles administrative and operational matters.

Prior to joining The Carvalho/Yates Group, Erika was with Northwestern Mutual and has over thirteen years of experience in the financial services industry.

Erika holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Florida State University. She is registered with FINRA and SEC with Series 6 and 63 registrations.
