About Us

After working over 25 years at some of the largest and most prestigious financial services firms, J.P. Brescia, the managing partner of the team, had a vision. To achieve true excellence and distinction in the service of clients, a combination of diverse skills and personalities is necessary in the form of a team. The highest quality client experience could only be achieved by dedicated investment, planning and client service specialists seamlessly working in concert. We judge our success in only one way; client satisfaction. Our Goals Based approach establishes a personal financial blueprint. Later, clients receive periodic meetings and reports that strictly measure progress versus that blueprint. The plan is not changed unless there is a significant change in client goals.Particular client situations, developing events in the general economy, changes in the regulatory landscape and more specific industry and investment issues are discussed daily on an ongoing basis. How these things might affect our clients is examined with an eye to swift and decisive action. Recent investment moves are also reviewed. We are our own harshest critics.Important distinguishing factors:
  • • Use of individual bonds: We recommend investing in actual bonds versus bond funds. Holding individual bonds to maturity provides greater certainty as to return of principal.
  • • Allocation for cash flow needs: Our team typically recommends allocating for three years of cash flow needs in order to help maintain lifestyle continuity for clients.  Seeking to reduce the probability that long-term investments will need to be liquidated at a market low.
  • • Control of costs: The use of actual bonds and proprietary stock models allows greater control of when and how taxable gains are taken.
  • • Transparency: We strive to give clients a clear picture of what they own and portfolio expenses.

5Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
