About Rachel Irwin, CFP®

As a financial advisor of The Bays Mountain Group, a 7-person team managing over $1.5 billion (as of 3/16/2023) for high net worth clients, families and businesses,1 Rachel is excited about working with each and every one of the team’s clients. Having decades of experience, Rachel has defined her core values and her approach to money management. She places a high value on integrity, transparency and long-term relationships, and her strategic approach to wealth management is focused jointly on helping build and preserve wealth.

Rachel has enjoyed roles with increasing levels of financial responsibility throughout her career. Starting out in management with a Fortune 500 company in 2000, Rachel was responsible for managing large corporate budgets and she had excellent mentors that developed her financial skills. After promotions had relocated Rachel across the country, she felt the need to move back to Tennessee for family reasons and transitioned into serving clients as a Partner of a CPA firm. In this role, Rachel learned the ins and outs of taxation, helped her clients achieve better business performance, and helped individuals with investment-related tax planning. After helping build out a succession plan for the CPA firm, she stepped into the role of Chief Financial Officer for a private company, where she had the opportunity to optimize financial investments, manage taxation and improve cash flow. She also gained extensive experience working with retirement plans including 401k and Cash Balance Plans. Knowing she wanted to bring her prior tax knowledge, (not practicing with Morgan Stanley), together with her financial planning, investment analysis and retirement experience to serve clients in need of long-term wealth management, Rachel was thrilled to join the The Bays Mountain Group of Morgan Stanley in 2019, so that she could spend the rest of her career helping clients experience greater financial freedom and achieve their financial goals.

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and CPA (inactive), she enjoys walking her clients through the Financial Planning process to build a roadmap for their financial future. She maintains an unwavering commitment to continuously monitoring and updating team recommendations regarding investments, income smoothing and cash flow for her clients.

Rachel enjoys supporting local charities and community organizations related to helping improve financial and physical wellness, mentoring at-risk youth and promoting opportunities for women and under-served populations. She is the Board Chair for Appalachian Opportunity Fund which is a non-profit that helps individuals gain financial freedom through individual coaching. Rachel enjoys engaging in the local church in Johnson City, has served as Treasurer for a local Cancer Foundation and has served as a Board Member of the YMCA. Rachel’s hobbies include exercising, hiking, kayaking, camping and staying involved in her children’s endeavors.

1Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.

7An investment in an exchange-traded fund (ETF) involves risks similar to those of investing in a broadly based portfolio of equity securities traded on exchange in the relevant securities market, such as market fluctuations caused by such factors as economic and political developments, changes in interest rates and perceived trends in stock prices. The investment return and principal value of ETF investments will fluctuate, so that an investor’s ETF shares, if or when sold, may be worth more or less than the original cost.

Investors should carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) before investing. The prospectus contains this and other information about the ETF. To obtain a prospectus, contact your Financial Advisor or visit the ETF company’s website. Please read the prospectus carefully before investing.
