      From our experience, it's helpful to have another pair of eyes and another point of view when tackling a challenge.  To this end, Valerie and Brandon formed a team in 2009.  Each brought a unique skill set and background to the table and they quickly found themselves better able to service our clients with a broader range of expertise. 

      In 2016, Annette joined the team to further enhance the services that we offer.  Our clients appreciate the team structure because they are able to draw on the knowledge of three dedicated advisors to tackle life's twists and turns.

      Valerie Duncan - Valerie's main focus on the team is Portfolio Management.  With 40 years experience in the industry she has seen many diferent market conditions and is uniquely positioned to manage custom portfolios for our clients.

      Brandon Bailey - Prior to becoming a financial advisor, Brandon excelled in private equity and real estate investment transactions.  His familiarity with the business cycle allows him to effectively evaluate economic risks, deciding the best opportunities for our clients' investment dollars.

      Annette Wells - Annette came to Morgan Stanley with a background in mathematics and auditing.  Her focus on numbers and details translates well into running financial plans for our clients and helping them stay on track to meet their goals.  She is also fluent in Spanish and is available to assist our Spanish-speaking clients.

          About Me

          I began my career in 1978 in the “cage” at the brokerage firm of Birr Wilson.  That was a great learning ground to understand the basics of the financial industry and the clients we serve.  I was given the opportunity to work with a senior advisor at Piper Jaffray in 1983, and passed my series 7 the following year.  Thus began a collaboration of over a decade with my mentor.  His dedication to teaching and passing on his knowledge gave me a wonderful base for the investment discipline I use to this day.

          At the beginning of 2003, I moved myself and my clients to Smith Barney (which later became Morgan Stanley) to elevate my practice and the services available to my clients.  I have had the pleasure now of becoming a mentor myself to my team member Brandon Bailey.  In 2009 we began our collaboration and it has been very rewarding to watch his progression over the years.   We have continued to build upon my knowledge and experience as well as Brandon’s skills to finesse our investment discipline.  We use a combination of technical analysis and quantitative data to determine the mood of the markets and to evaluate individual companies.

          My husband and I live in Eagle, Idaho, and spend our pleasure time between our cabin in McCall, Idaho, and travelling in our motorhome with our two pugs.  We have 8 grandchildren, currently between the ages of 18 months and 20 years, and have enjoyed watching them grow into young adults.

          About Me

          I began my investment career at a young age; buying, raising, and selling pigs on my family’s dairy farm. Eventually I parlayed pigs into calves and calves into dairy cows which I “donated” to the family business during economically challenging times. Growing up on the farm I learned first-hand the realities of running a business, the role of economics in market cycles, and the risks of not being diversified.  

          I worked my way through school earning both a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix. I have been actively involved in the public and private investment markets since 2001. I have helped raise capital for private equity, commercial real estate, and direct private placements. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley I spent two years as a wealth advisor in a boutique independent investment office focusing on active portfolio management and alternative investments.

          Outside of work I am active in church and the community. I had the unique opportunity to spend two years as a volunteer in the West African nations of Ghana and Sierra Leone, and I continue to follow closely the economic and political developments in that region. I volunteer time to our local Little League baseball organization as the VP of Baseball and a team Manager. My wife Nicole and I are the proud and busy parents of four boys (Spencer, Jackson, Peyton, and Carter); we enjoy spending time outdoors, fishing, hiking and attending our kids many events.

          About Me

          In the summer of 2016, I joined Morgan Stanley as a Financial Advisor.  Although the role was new to me, the location and the industry were not.

          Boise has been my home off and on for more than 30 years.  I hammered my way through college working for my Father’s residential roofing company, graduating from Boise State with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics minor.

          After college, I married Stephen Wells and joined him in Utah where he attended school.  While in Utah, I had my inaugural experience in the financial services industry working for a mutual fund company in Salt Lake City.  I eventually suspended my career to be a full-time homemaker and home-educator to two boys, Robinson and Tanner.

          One lengthy sabbatical and many moves later, my family and I re-settled in Boise where I stepped back into the family roofing business, this time as manager.  Eventually, I found my way to financial services again where I enjoy helping my clients face the future with peace and confidence.

          Out of the office, my family and I love all things outdoors - hiking, backpacking, biking and rock climbing.

          As a Senior Registered Associate, my role on the team is to assist our clients in navigating through administrative and service related needs.  I enjoy getting to know our clients as it helps me discover ways to meet their needs.

          I have worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years, during which time I obtained the Series 7 and Series 66 licenses.

          My husband, David, and I moved to Boise from Alabama in 1998.  We love it here and are proud to call Boise our home.  We enjoy camping, spending time with our rescue pets and exploring various types of cuisine.
