Our Process

Our wealth management process is actually quite simple - we listen. We ask questions to learn as much as we can about you and what matters most to you, be it family, friends, charitable causes, or a legacy. Then we help you prioritize, organize, and simplify in pursuit of your goals. Some of the steps can be done simultaneously, but we like to describe them individually for greater understanding. Here are the components of our process.
Step 1: Have a Conversation
We start by having an informal conversation with you. Think of it like having coffee with a trusted confidante. We will talk about your financial concerns and discuss how we can help, how we fit into your picture, and how we can add value. It’s also your chance to interview us: Do you like us? Do you trust us? Will you take our advice?

If we agree to move forward together, we’ll schedule another meeting, and request important financial information.
Step 2: Face-to-Face Meeting
We will continue the dialogue with you by learning about the values that shape your decisions, and identify any unique circumstances. We will review the documents you’ve prepared, and begin to define your priorities.
Step 3: Initial Financial Plan
In this step, we will present the initial version of your personalized and detailed financial plan. This will include recommendations on growing, preserving, and transferring your wealth to meet your unique goals. Our intention is for you to modify this version of the draft to try out various scenarios. But the base plan will serve as the bedrock for your financial endeavors going forward.
Step 4: Investment Strategy
Our investment strategy is built to avoid conflicts of interest. This is also the place where we make recommendations fine tuning your plan based on current economic and market conditions.
Step 5: Risk Management
Risk comes in many forms. It could mean outliving your assets. It could mean overconcentration in a single security. Whatever the source of your risk, you can’t control it if you can’t see it. We help you find where risk may be hiding in your portfolio, and take specific steps to manage it.
Step 6: Ongoing Stewardship & Service
We will update your financial plan as your life changes. And it will serve as a touchstone when markets try your patience, because admittedly, that’s not always easy – like when markets misbehave. We will meet you twice a year to discuss happenings with your current situation, future, feelings, and family dynamics.

Behind the scenes, we will continue to analyze the investments, funds, and managers we recommend across several factors including cost-effectiveness, performance, manager tenure,
Step 7: Coordinating with Your Accountant & Estate Planning Attorney
This step helps your strategies adapt to changing financial and family needs.

It is our expectation that your 4th quarter Investment Strategy & Planning Meeting will be held along with your accountant so that questions of tax-efficiency can be addressed quickly and effectively.

We will also look to hold a meeting with you and your estate planning attorney every three to five years, to make sure that your assets are titled properly, trusts are funded as needed, and beneficiaries are updated as intended. It is also an opportunity to see if your various estate documents continue to serve your needs, or if they need to be updated.

Accolades

I'm proud to have been a three time speaker for the 3rd Black Wealth Summit this year. My presentations have included “Building the Wealth to Live the Life You Love," and "Credit and Debt Management : Staying on Track to Achieve Your Goals" Both presentations were aimed to be both practical and aspirational. I hope the participants found my comments to be insightful and actionable.
