My Mission Statement
To educate my clients and encourage financial planning in order to create a retirement with dignity and financial security.
Welcome
As your Financial Advisor, my goal is to help you feel less stressed and more confident with your financial life and staying on track to achieve your goals.
I've learned a lot since 1987 when I started my career. I have lived through the 1986 Crash, 1993-94 recession, the Dot.Com bust of 2000, 9/11, the 2008 Financial Crisis and now a worldwide Covid-19 health crisis in 2020. That’s a lot of knowledge to absorb but that is also one advantage of getting older.
It’s essential that we start with a plan to help you organize, consolidate and automate your financial life. I’m here to help you with planned or sudden changes in your life.
I’m a CDFA™ - Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® to better help those who have become suddenly single. I have taken the Collaborative law basic and advanced training which helps me give you a better understanding of the full financial picture and help you navigate these stressful times.
Some of the ways I help clients are by navigating key times in their lives:
Life Events Divorce, Death, Job Loss/Changes
Planning Estate and pre-retirement planning
Education Planning for College and wealth transfers
Sometimes we just need a neutral voice to help guide us through major life decisions. Please reach out to me at 972-450-6679 or Sharon.washburn@morganstanley.com and we can schedule a call or meeting.
I’ve resided in the DFW area since 1978. My Dad was career Army and a West Pointer. My Mom was a teacher and a native Texan so Texas was always our “home” state. I’m an avid music lover and look forward to many concerts and festivals in the near future.
I’m focused on helping improve financial literacy throughout the state of Texas. In addition to being a member of the UT Arlington Financial Literacy Advisory Board, I’ve developed a Financial Literacy program for teens using materials from the Dallas Federal Reserve.
The use of the CDFA® designation does not permit the rendering of legal advice by Morgan Stanley or its Financial Advisors which may only be done by a licensed attorney.

I help create comprehensive financial plans for investors who would like to:
Reduce unnecessary expenses
Keep more of what they earn
Boost their net worth
Realize clearly defined goals
Pursue long-term financial security
Below is the step-by-step process for creating a financial plan:
Discovery:
During this phase, I conduct a thorough interview with you to gather as much pertinent information as possible about you and your family. I listen intensely, ask plenty of questions and take copious notes. The process is extensive because I want to make sure we cover every facet of your financial life.
Creating Your Strategy:
At this stage, I present your financial plan. I will recommend sound investments and strategies to help you achieve your clearly defined goals, such as saving for college expenses, help securing a comfortable retirement or leaving a legacy. I will gladly answer any questions you may have. I believe the more our clients understand their plan, the more comfortable they will be adhering to it long-term.
Implementing Your Plan:
Once you are completely comfortable with your financial plan, I will implement it and monitor the plan regularly to help ensure it remains on track to your financial goals. I also stay in close contact with you to keep you informed and provide you with the highest level of service and support. As your needs change, we will adjust your plan accordingly.
Growing Our Relationship:
I view the financial planning process as the first step in an ongoing relationship. My goal is to serve you and build a trusting relationship.
