Our Team at Morgan Stanley San Francisco Market

About Thomas Bonds

Tom Bonds is the Market Executive for Morgan Stanley responsible for the San Francisco and Hawaii Wealth Management markets. The San Francisco Hawaii Markets is comprised of two Wealth Management offices located at 555 and 101 California Street in San Francisco, Burlingame, CA., Honolulu, Maui, Kauai, Kona and Hilo, HI. Prior to accepting this role in the firm, Tom was the Complex Manager in the Bellevue, WA Complex for five years, after serving as a Financial Advisor and Branch Manager for the previous 29 years, most recently in Newport Beach, CA. Tom’s career in finance began as an intern while still in college, his career progressed, and Tom advanced through different offices across the country while his responsibilities and career grew. This journey took Tom from Glendale, CA to Chicago, IL to Newport Beach, CA, up to the Pacific Northwest, and in 2022 to San Francisco. As a Financial Advisor Tom managed a big business, while also managing one of the largest branches in the firm. One of the most rewarding aspects of the Financial Advisor role was to positively influence multiple generations of families and have a lasting impact on the lives of those that trusted him with so much. From 2009 until 2017, Tom had the opportunity to serve as a “Player/Coach”, Portfolio Manager and Branch Manager. This exposure to multiple roles and offices in the firm allowed Tom to observe, partner and supervise some of the very best Financial Advisors in the industry.

Eventually this experience led Tom to being named the Market Executive in San Francisco and Hawaii in 2022. His passion for building teams, coaching, leading, and collaborating in an evolving industry offer the opportunity to have a greater impact on a larger number of people, which is extremely motivating to Tom. Tom’s pursuit of “Delivering First Class Business in a First Class Way” has become central to the culture in the markets he leads. Supervising markets that span across the Pacific Ocean reinforce the necessity of effective communication and collaboration. It is the goal of the San Francisco/Hawaii leadership team that all employees in their market are aware of the opportunities to collaborate and provide exceptional client solutions that exemplify our Core Values of Doing the Right Thing for the Client and Leading with Exceptional Ideas. Many advisors in the San Francisco/Hawaii Markets are on teams or even have strategic partnerships across the country, which ultimately benefit their clients. As communication flows across our firm daily, this access to intellectual capital and expert advice gives every client the opportunity to exceptional solutions and service, which is our primary focus.

Our management team is diverse and experienced, cumulatively we have more than 100 years of industry experience, and we approach every day with the goal of being a strategic partner to our advisors and staff. We will meet you where you are as you work through your business plan and determine what your client experience will look like. Our digital tools and industry leading Portfolio Risk Analysis, allow our advisors to engage and deliver a planning-based Capital Markets experience that is hard to duplicate elsewhere.

Tom is active in his community and gives back frequently to organizations that focus on providing comfort and meals to at-risk children. Tom has been married to his wife Julie since 1990, and together they have four active adult children, three sons in law, and six grandchildren. Tom and Julie live in San Francisco, CA.

6The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of sustainable investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because sustainability criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.
