Long View Group

Long View Group at Morgan Stanley dates back to 1998, when Kevin Brown and Gordon Smith merged their respective practices. They made a commitment to work with clients, provide them with the best possible advice on financial planning and investing, and to help them navigate the transitions in their lives. When Gordon retired back in 2015, Kevin knew he wanted to find another partner who shared that same vision, and could help provide a better experience for clients and could care for his clients when he ultimately retired himself.

Sarah Forney joined Long View Group in 2016, bringing with her a wealth of investment experience, energy and passion. Since then, she’s been an invaluable member of the team, providing insight and advice to our clients while engaging their adult children in meaningful ways in terms of financial education and guidance.

After more than 30 years with Morgan Stanley and its predecessor firms, Kevin decided to retire at the end of 2022. Kevin served our clients with dedication and care that was sincere and genuine. Although his function as trusted advisor has ended, the friendships will last a lifetime.

Today, our practice has evolved to incorporate new approaches, including more proactive regular contact, as well as offering financial services that are complementary to our core investment and financial planning work – services such as cash management and lending, insurance, etc. These changes have all been implemented for the purpose of best serving the needs of our clients and helping them achieve their financial goals.

Long View Group will continue to function as a concierge practice within the financially strong, immensely resourced, global company that is Morgan Stanley. We continue to be dedicated to working with families across multiple generations, with an intense focus on individuals in or approaching retirement. Our mission is still to educate, help you simplify your financial life, preserve and grow your wealth, collaborate to solve problems and feel empowered and confident about your financial future, all while navigating life’s transitions along the way.

We truly value our relationship with our clients and look forward to continuing to partner with them in the years and decades to come.

Please see our individual bios for more information on our backgrounds, experience, and involvement in the community.

2When Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC, its affiliates and Morgan Stanley Financial Advisors and Private Wealth Advisors (collectively, “Morgan Stanley”) provide “investment advice” regarding a retirement or welfare benefit plan account, an individual retirement account or a Coverdell education savings account (“Retirement Account”), Morgan Stanley is a “fiduciary” as those terms are defined under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, as amended (“ERISA”), and/or the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (the “Code”), as applicable. When Morgan Stanley provides investment education, takes orders on an unsolicited basis or otherwise does not provide “investment advice”, Morgan Stanley will not be considered a “fiduciary” under ERISA and/or the Code. 3The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) aware investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because ESG criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.
