Welcome

Jackson Capital is focused on providing solutions to what matters most to our clients. Change is constant on Wall Street, and many firms have come and gone, but our family has been giving financial advice for four generations with an uncompromising commitment to work in the best interests of our clients.

At the core of our services is a disciplined approach that starts with listening and understanding your life’s vision. We seek to optimize what wealth can do for you and the causes that you care about.

Our 9 person team is lead by Dana Jackson, Managing Director Wealth Management and Senior Institutional Consultant. Dana has been a constant, spending over 20 years at the same firm on Sand Hill Road. Barron’s has recognized him as one of the top 100 financial advisors in the country for the majority of the last 15 years, including 2021. Rep Magazine has also recognized our team as one of the top teams in America.

Our network of venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and family offices combined with the resources of Morgan Stanley provides access to “best ideas” and potential investment opportunities. Dana has virtually unparalleled experience guiding founders and early employees through concentrated stock and stock option management, taxation, estate and trust design and philanthropic planning. We advise our clients on private equity liquidity, hedging and portfolio design.

We are selectively adding a few relationships this year and if you would like to learn more, we would welcome that conversation.

Source: Barron's.com (April 2023) 2023 Barron's Top 100 Financial Advisors awarded in 2023. This ranking was determined based on an evaluation process conducted by Barron's during the period from Dec 2020 - Dec 2021. Neither Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC nor its Financial Advisors or Private Wealth Advisors paid a fee to Barron's to obtain or use the ranking. This ranking is based on in-person and telephone due diligence meetings to evaluate each advisor qualitatively, a major component of a ranking algorithm that includes client retention, industry experience, review of compliance records, firm nominations, and quantitative criteria, including assets under management and revenue generated for their firms. Investment performance is not a criterion. Rankings are based on the opinions of Barron's and this ranking may not be representative of any one client’s experience. This ranking is not indicative of the Financial Advisor’s future performance. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC is not affiliated with Barron's. OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our team's investment philosophy is centered around three pillars: maintaining an institutional approach, following a bespoke consulting process, and focusing on tax efficiency.

Institutional Approach

We truly believe that we do better when you do better. We seek to provide an institutional approach to wealth management, embracing open architecture with a commitment to providing unbiased advice. Having 30 years of experience on Sand Hill Road, we understand the importance of having a macro-outlook when assessing each client's financial situation. Using our proprietary reporting system, our team has access to a variety of funds and money managers, helping us tailor each allocation strategy using the best offerings across asset classes.

Consulting Process

We follow a six-step approach to get a holistic view of your financial picture and assess which strategies are best suited to balance your needs and long-term goals.

  1. Needs Analysis - We review your time horizon, risk tolerance, cash in- and out-flows, and reserves.
  2. Strategy Planning – We work with external advisors (CPA, attorney, etc.) to formulate a tax, trust, and estate strategy to protect your wealth.
  3. Investment Policy – We will work with you to establish guidelines for portfolio design.
  4. Asset Allocation - We will build a diversified portfolio designed for optimized risk-adjusted returns, tailored to your situation.
  5. Manager Selection – We will identify the appropriate investment vehicles, managers, and funds, combining open architecture with unbiased advice.
  6. Portfolio Monitoring and Review – Our group uses a proprietary reporting system developed to give a comprehensive view of your portfolio and allows us to tactically adjust your portfolio based on current market conditions.
Focus on Tax Efficiency

Taxes are, in our opinion, the most expensive cost of doing investment business. Therefore, tax management is a significant focus of what we do.

Tax efficient techniques we consider include:

  • Low-turnover equity portfolio management
  • Harvesting portfolios for capital losses to build an inventory for offsetting gains
  • Helping clients evaluate other investments (e.g., Venture Capital) for opportunistic tax loss recognition
  • Focus on identifying tax-exempt securities where possible, and Coordinating with CPA's and Estate Attorneys to promote the greatest level of tax-efficiency
