The City Point Wealth Management Group (CPWM) at Morgan Stanley is a boutique wealth management practice seeking to provide exemplary service and holistic advice to help families and organizations achieve their financial planning, investment, wealth transfer and philanthropic goals.
CPWM was recently formed through the merger of two groups – The Toomey Waterman Group and The Hood Collins Group. Now a six-member team with diverse backgrounds and a strong moral compass, we work with affluent individuals, multi-generational families, foundations and organizations who value close relationships with seasoned advisors.
The decision to combine teams was made so that we may serve our clients more efficiently with more resources and more diversity of thought and talent. Our goal has always been to provide superior service and results to those who put their faith in us. This merger gives us the best opportunity to do so. About John Toomey
John brings over 20 years of wealth management experience to his clients, with the goal of servicing affluent clients and families on a comprehensive basis. John was in a leadership role at Morgan Stanley for almost ten years helping to lead and grow the Morgan Stanley franchise on the South Shore and Cape Cod.
John’s affinity for wealth management is rooted in his appreciation for delivering advice while educating his clients on complex issues. John grew up in a family of educators, his mother, brother and several aunts and uncles having taught at the elementary, secondary and college levels.
His belief in the educational process led him to successfully complete the Morgan Stanley Family Wealth Director program; achieving the designation of Family Wealth Director. John is part of a select group of highly trained advisors serving clients with complex needs. This designation is for advisors who demonstrate specialized expertise in offering advanced planning, by delivering resources needed to help affluent families to address complex, multi-generational challenges of managing significant wealth. John and Mike consistently focus on wealth transfer, family dynamics, asset management, risk management, lending, philanthropy, business succession planning, monetizing business ownership and control, and restricted securities of corporate executives.
John has obtained the advanced designation of Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist and is a Senior Portfolio Manager within Morgan Stanley.
In his spare time, John enjoys spending time with his wife Stephanie and their three children and five grandchildren. John and Stephanie are very actively involved in multiple local charities, including the All Dorchester Sports and Leadership program, Boston Children’s Hospital Blood Donation Center and Dress for Success. John enjoys staying active, having recently competed in the Haymakers for Hope Charity Boxing Event.

About Kevin Collins
Kevin Collins is a founding member at The City Point Wealth Management Group at Morgan Stanley. He comes from an engineering background but now focuses his energies on some of the most complex and sophisticated wealth and tax planning investment strategies. As a member of the team and with 30 years of experience, Kevin specifically focuses his energy on client relationships, investment strategies, portfolio evaluation, financial planning, liability management, and capital market transactions.
He was born and raised in NYC, his family moved to Nashua, NH in his teen years and he grew to love the area of New England. His grandparents immigrated from Ireland during the depression to seek a better life and imbedded a deep focus on education and knowledge on their children and grandchildren. He is proud that among his children, siblings and nieces and nephews and their spouses, there are nine doctorates and fifteen advance degrees in the science and healthcare fields.
Kevin is married to his college sweetheart, Donna for the past 30 years and they have two grown children, Joe and Abby. Donna is a 5th grade teacher and they are both very active in the Nashua community, supporting local children focus groups such as the Boys and Girls Club and PAL.

About David Hood
David Hood is a founding member of The City Point Wealth Management Group at Morgan Stanley. He serves as Senior Vice President and has been with Morgan Stanley for the last 10+ years. His responsibilities at The Hood Collins Group includes managing client relationships, financial planning, portfolio construction, evaluation, and monitoring. David has extensive industry experience with over 30 years that started at Drexel Burnham Lambert, and then Bear Stearns where he was a Managing Director.
Throughout his career, he has valued becoming more educated. David has completed various financial college courses earlier in his career at Northeastern as well as other universities. In 1994, David earned a CFA designation which entailed 3 years of vigorous study encompassing, accounting, security evaluation, ethics, portfolio management, and other topics. David holds relevant security and insurance licenses. More recently David earned Senior Portfolio Manager Designation in 2020 and is well versed in alternative investments.
David works closely with his experienced team to help establish client plans that closely align with their goals. Every client is unique and we work hard to make sure each and every client has a high standard of care with appropriate strategies based on their circumstances. David and his team collaborate daily to stay on top of current events and to make sure they are taking advantage of all of Morgan Stanley’s resources to the benefit of their clients.
When David is out of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife Ellen of 36 years. David and Ellen will often travel with their 3 adult children, along their wives/partners, and his 2 grandchildren. David enjoys fly-fishing, playing golf & tennis, watching many sports, visiting museums and listening to music. David supports many charities for those less fortunate which include Bay Cove serving the Boston area.

About Jon Sullivan
Jon joined Morgan Stanley in 2017 after spending 12 years in the financial services industry as a consultant to financial advisors. Over his years at Morgan Stanley he has built strong relationships with his clients by taking the time to educate on various subjects such as wealth transfer, cash management, asset allocation, and keeping more of what you earn by utilizing firm resources. Not only does he work with his clients but also his client’s professional advisors such as CPA’s and Attorneys which has helped create a team environment for his client’s success in meeting personal and financial goals.
Jon has been a recipient of the Pacesetter’s Club Award 3 years in a row given by Morgan Stanley to those financial advisors that have demonstrated the highest professional standards and first class service.
Jon grew up in the Boston area and graduated from Bridgewater State College in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. While he was there he was selected an All-American for the varsity football team.

Nicole is a Registered Associate. She holds both an Associate’s degree in Accounting and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Kutztown University. She worked in various areas of the accounting field before moving to Massachusetts and beginning her career with Morgan Stanley in March 2018.
She lives on Cape Cod and spends most of her time with her husband and their dog. She enjoys staying active outdoors, reading, and volunteering with local charities.

Van Liao is a Vice President and Financial Planning Director serving Morgan Stanley’s Wealth Management offices in Boston, MA. She is responsible for helping Financial Advisors with their clients’ and prospects’ financial planning needs.

Van also spent about 6 years at Wells Fargo Family Wealth, where she collaborated with financial advisors and investment professionals to provide specialized advisory services to high and ultra-high net worth families and business owners.
Van graduated from Clark University with a B.A. in Business Management and M.S. in Finance. She also holds her Certified Financial Planner®. She dedicates her time and effort to promoting the planning profession, empowering financial literacy, and building a strong professional community.
