About Me

I believe we all deserve the highest level of service. I take pride in my ability to put advanced concepts into action and effectively communicate these concepts to my clients. I work diligently to demystify the investment and planning process by understanding my clients’ goals and values, and use all of the resources backed by Morgan Stanley to solve problems that require complex solutions.

I am dedicated to helping individuals and families solve their financial challenges. Whether my clients are saving for their children’s college education, solidifying their retirement plan or devising an income distribution strategy, my approach to wealth management includes a thorough planning process and a commitment to providing outstanding service and integrated financial solutions.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in 2006, I served as a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch. I previously worked in the hospitality industry, holding several management roles at restaurants throughout the early part of my career. This collective experience gave me a diverse set of skills, including prioritizing relationships and the caliber of service I provide to my clients.

Growing up in Keene, New Hampshire, I received my undergraduate degree from the namesake Keene State College. I currently live in Tampa with my wife, Kyla, and my children. I actively volunteer with Feeding America and The American Heart Association, and volunteer within my children's schools.

In my free time, I am spending time with my family! We love to be out on the water, cruising to a sand bar or catching a Tampa Bay sunset. I also enjoy cooking, eating, and entertaining.

MY PROCESS

My clients are much more than a portfolio of assets -- they are families with active lives, who want an advisor who will provide them with thorough, unbiased, and carefully considered guidance on a full range of financial topics. When working with me, you will be treated with respect, care, confidentiality, and given unwavering commitment to you and your family.

I work with a broad range of clients who need professional guidance from managing life-changing events and retirement planning to financing major acquisitions or achieving philanthropic goals. While all clients have unique personal and professional circumstances, they have one thing in common -- securing and maintaining a solid financial future for themselves and their families.

I use a disciplined four-step consulting process to uncover your most important goals, so that I may design and implement appropriate solutions to help plan for your future.
    Icon Image
    Listen & Understand
I'll begin with an in-depth conversation where I'll listen carefully to understand what is important to you, your family, and your legacy. I learn about the values that shape your decisions and identify any challenges and circumstances unique to your situation.
    Icon Image
    Analyze & Assess
Next, I'll review your current and future financial situation, determine the likelihood of reaching your goals and address any potential shortfalls or the impact of unexpected life events. In this step, I may also contact your CPA and estate attorney to understand your existing estate plan, so I can help ensure the strategies we recommend are cohesive and fully coordinated.
    Icon Image
    Propose & Implement
Here, I'll present a tailored wealth management plan with specific strategies designed to achieve your particular goals. Upon your approval, I'll set into motion a course of action that strives to align your values and visions.
    Icon Image
    Monitor & Adapt
I'll oversee your performance towards your goals through ongoing calls and meetings. I may recommend adjustments over time, due to changing market conditions or changes in your circumstances, to help keep you on track toward achieving your goals.

PLANNING YOUR FUTURE

I will work with you to understand what your priorities are during these crucial years and implement a customized strategy for you. Whether it is planning for retirement, transitioning into retirement, or already managing your assets in retirement, I am equipped with the resources and the knowledge to help you accomplish your personal and financial goals.

Although retirement may seem far for some, it is essential to get started on planning for future living expenses, potential education funds, or travel costs. Let me help you learn how to grow and preserve your wealth.

    The Psychological Transition into Retirement
Most retirement preparations focus on financial planning, but it is equally crucial to look at personal considerations and help you with easing the fear of the unknown. Given that many people overlook the psychological adjustments of retirement, I can help you understand why it’s important to be emotionally (not just financially) ready for retirement.

    Risks to Your Retirement
Once you determine what kind of retirement you want, we will work together to take a closer look at the risks that might be standing between you and your retirement goals. No matter how well you save during the accumulation phase, it’s critical to plan how you convert those assets to income. I can help you navigate the challenges that may arise.

ANSWERING YOUR EVERYDAY QUESTIONS

From rolling over your 401(k) to understanding various types of investments, I am here to answer your financial questions and implement the best strategies for your specific goals and circumstances. Here are just a few of the questions I help my clients answer every day:
    Icon Image
What are the benefits of rolling over my 401(k)?
Your retirement assets may represent a substantial source of your future retirement income and there are many factors you should consider in determining whether to roll over your assets. You can avoid paying immediate taxes and continue to grow your retirement savings tax-deferred by rolling over your 401(k) funds into an IRA. Additionally, an IRA can give you more control and investment options than your previous 401(k) plan offered.

    What is active management?
Active investing allows advisors to adjust their clients' portfolios to align with prevailing market conditions. It also allows investors to take advantage of short-term trading opportunities that are not standard with passive management. Actively managed portfolios help advisors meet the specific needs of their clients, such as providing diversification, retirement income or a targeted investment return.

How do I manage risk in my portfolio?
There are two primary types of risk: market risk and business risk. While market risk consists of factors that affect the overall market and cannot be controlled, we can help you manage business risk, which affects a specific group of securities or individual securities. By gaining a deeper understanding of your risk tolerance and diversifying your portfolio, we can help you manage the risks you can control.

What is the difference between ETFs and mutual funds?
ETFs and mutual funds are investments that provide built-in diversification. Both track indexes, however, ETFs tend to be more liquid and cost effective as they trade directly on exchanges the way that normal shares of stock would. Both investments are taxed on gains and losses each year, but ETFs tend to be more tax efficient. Since they engage in less internal trading, they create fewer taxable events.

8Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.

9Alternative Investments are speculative and include a high degree of risk. An investor could lose all or a substantial amount of his/her investment. Alternative investments are appropriate only for qualified, long-term investors who are willing to forgo liquidity and put capital at risk for an indefinite period of time.

10The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) aware investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because ESG criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.

11Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC (“Morgan Stanley”), its affiliates and Morgan Stanley Financial Advisors or Private Wealth Advisors do not provide tax or legal advice. Clients should consult their tax advisor for matters involving taxation and tax planning and their attorney for legal matters.
