My Story and Services

Doug takes a whole life approach guiding his clients to achieve their life's goals.  In addition to asset management; he believes that effective liabilities management is important to enhancing overall wealth.

The focus of Doug’s business revolves around customizing investment strategies where preservation of capital is equally as important as sustainable growth. Investment plans can be comprised of equities, mutual funds, separately managed accounts, multi-market (municipal, US government, corporate and high-yield) fixed-income ladders, market neutral strategies, alternatives and option hedging and monetization strategies. In order to effectively address the complex needs of his diverse client base, Doug leverages his experience in portfolio management, employee stock options (NQs & ISOs), financial planning and cash management, lending solutions, estates and trusts, and retirement planning (401(k)s/IRAs strategies).

Doug’s practice extends across the U.S., as well as internationally to Canada, Europe, and Asia.  His client profiles include senior executives of high-technology companies, entrepreneurs, retirees, family offices, charitable foundations and trusts.

He holds a BA in Government with a Minor in Economics from Cornell University and a MA from Tufts University focusing on International Affairs and Finance.

The foundation of Doug’s financial experience began in 1998, when he became a paralegal with the Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati law firm, participating in the corporate structuring of multiple, start-up technology companies.  His undertakings included the administration of preferred stock and derivative securities issuances, administration of stock option plans and management of board and shareholder fiduciary duties.  Doug also managed the ongoing SEC compliance for multiple public companies and was fortunate to have participated in the Initial Public Offerings (IPO) of Secure Computing and Webvan.  He eventually moved on to perform venture capital distributions for Credit Suisse First Boston in totaling $1.3 billion during 1999, before starting his own wealth management practice with Smith Barney in 2000.  Smith Barney was acquired by Morgan Stanley in the summer of 2013, and the firm manages over $2 trillion in client assets as of July 2014.

Here are some of the groups I serve most often:

When your career moves quickly, financial decisions can lag behind. We help executives and high-earning professionals coordinate cash flow, benefits, and long-term strategy—so your plan keeps pace with your life. That includes guidance around equity compensation and concentrated positions, as well as building an investment and planning approach designed for flexibility today and opportunity tomorrow.

We help families prioritize goals, align spending and saving, and create a clear framework for decisions—from education planning and insurance needs to day-to-day cash flow and long-term investing. The result is a plan that supports your family now while still building toward what’s next.

    Pre-Retirees & Retirees
Retirement isn’t just a date—it’s a transition. We help clients design a plan for turning savings into income, coordinating retirement accounts, and managing withdrawals with tax awareness. We also support decisions around timing, lifestyle, and legacy so you can feel confident about your next chapter.
    Learn More
    Business Owners & Entrepreneurs
For business owners, wealth planning is personal planning. We help entrepreneurs connect the dots between business and household finances—preparing for growth, succession, or a liquidity event while managing risk and protecting what you’ve built. Our goal is to help you make decisions with clarity today and preserve options for the future.
