About Joseph R. Malarney

Joseph R. Malarney is the Market Executive and a Managing Director for Morgan Stanley’s Coastal New England Market. With over three decades of experience with Morgan Stanley and its predecessors, Joe is a leader in helping advisors develop their business while embracing the highest level of integrity.

Joe started as a Financial Advisor in 1985 at Shearson Lehman Brothers, and in 1988, he became a Branch Manager of their Orlando, Florida, office. He then joined Smith Barney in 1989 as the Branch Manager of their Boca Raton, Florida, office. Joe moved back to Boston in 1995 as the Branch Manager of the 28 State Street office. After managing the Boston office for an honorable 25 year term, Joe embraced a new endeavor among the New England region.

To offer advisors some of the most innovative and up-to-date financial planning tools in the industry, Joe assembled what is now known as the Coastal New England Market. As a former advisor, he utilizes his deep knowledge of investment management, estate planning, and retirement planning to deliver comprehensive solutions for his advisors and their clients’ needs.

Deeply committed to his career, Joe considers himself a student of managing people to a higher plane in life. He is relentless in his drive to provide advisors and their clients with the best experience possible.

He lives with his wife, Christine Carona, in Newton, Massachusetts.

About Nicholas D. Brodeur

Nick Brodeur is a Vice President, Associate Market Manager for the Coastal New England Market at Morgan Stanley where he focuses on recruiting and retaining talented Financial Advisors and Support Staff, ensuring that all compliance and regulatory rules are followed, and promoting growth and business development for Financial Advisors in the market.

Prior to that, he was the Business Development Manager in our Boston Market where he helped 200+ financial advisors ensure their clients had access to the full suite of products, resources, and services that Morgan Stanley has to offer.

During his seven years at Morgan Stanley, Nick has served as a lead member of the Wealth Management CFO team in Purchase, NY where he led a team of financial analysts responsible for uncovering business growth opportunities across the firm’s branch offices. He came to Boston in 2019 to join the New England Region as the Senior Regional Analyst where he leveraged his prior experience to aid the region in growth through key data analytics and insights.

Nick earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Pace University and his MBA degree from the University of Hartford.
Nick currently resides in downtown Boston. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, golfing, and hiking.

About Nicole Leal

Nicole Leal is the Senior Market Administrator for the Coastal New England Market and has been with Morgan Stanley since 2013. Prior to joining the Firm, she graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and Sociology. Following her graduation, Nicole began her career in the financial industry at New York Life Insurance Company as an insurance agent. Nicole prides herself in being dedicated to maintaining effective client relationships.

Nicole is a resident of Georgetown, Massachusetts. She is fluent in Portuguese and enjoys spending time with loved ones. When she is not at work or spending time with her family, Nicole loves cooking and practicing yoga.

About Janis Larsen

Janis Larsen is the Risk Officer for Morgan Stanley’s Coastal New England Market with responsibility for a wide variety of supervisory, compliance, and risk related functions. Janis has over 17 years of financial services experience. She joined Morgan Stanley in 2006 as the Complex Manager Assistant of the North Country Complex in Danvers, Massachusetts, and was promoted to Branch Service Manager of the Morgan Stanley Middleton office in June 2014 and, most recently, to her current role as Risk Officer.

Janis resides in Peabody, Massachusetts, with her family. Together, they enjoy gathering with family and friends, traveling, and being avid fans of all New England sports teams. Janis enjoys crafting, DIY projects, and amateur photography, and can often be seen capturing those special moments at family gatherings. She attended Salem State College and has combined her love and support of family and friends with giving back, participating in the annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk since 2005 as a 13.1 mile fundraising walker in support of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

About Kathleen Ferraro

Kathleen "Kathy" Ferraro serves as Market Manager and Executive Director for Morgan Stanley’s Coastal New England Market. She has extensive experience in the financial services industry. Kathleen started her career at The First National Bank of Chicago’s New York Banking Division in 1986. Kathleen joined Gruntal & Co. in 1988 as a Financial Advisor. Her team left Gruntal in 1990 to join Smith Barney in White Plains, New York. Kathleen was a President’s Council Advisor before she changed course and joined the management team in 2005 in Greenwich, Connecticut. Kathy has held several leadership roles at Smith Barney/Morgan Stanley, including Complex Business Development Manager, Assistant Branch Manager, and Assistant Complex Manager.

In June of 2014, Kathleen was named Branch Manager of the Norwell, Massachusetts, branch. Her main objective is to be a partner with her advisors and employees to deliver world-class service to the clients of her branch. In October 2019, Kathleen became the Market Manager for the Norwell, Hyannis, and Dartmouth branches. Shortly after, she was inducted into Morgan Stanley's MAKER's Class of 2020. She is a passionate advocate for authenticity, diversity, and inclusion.

Kathleen holds a degree in Business and Marketing from The University of Tampa. She and her husband, Anthony, have three children, Vincent; Gabriella; and Anthony, Jr. Kathleen supports numerous charitable organizations, including Father Bill’s Homeless Shelter, Cooley’s Anemia Foundation, The American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, The Gravinese Mutual Aid Society, and The World Wildlife Fund. Lifting up the next generation of female professionals is a passion of Kathleen’s. She is involved with Invest in Girls and Power to Fly, both of which promote financial literacy for girls and help them prepare for the workplace through mentoring, coaching and resume assistance.

About Russell Gentner

Russ Gentner is a Market Manager for the Rhode Island Market and Branch Manager of the Providence office. An Executive Director within Morgan Stanley, he is keenly focused on ensuring Financial Advisors have the tools they need to help their clients achieve their long-term financial goals.

Russ is highly adept at leveraging the Firm’s global capabilities and vast resources to the advantage of Financial Advisors. One of his most important traits is his ability to create sound, finely tuned strategies – whether it’s helping Financial Advisors grow their practice or create comprehensive financial plans for their clients.

Russ’s expertise in creating sound strategies is a testament to his strength in meticulously analyzing situations to make well-informed decisions. Throughout his career, Russ has held positions that have required him to observe situations carefully, identify the most appropriate solutions to overcome obstacles and create a prudent path to success.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Russ worked for UBS Financial Services Inc., where he honed the skills for more than seven years. He started as a trade and processing specialist, became an Administrative Manager in 2014 and moved into Sales Leadership as a Branch Manager in 2018.

About Emily Garland

Emily Garland began her career with Morgan Stanley in early 2018 when she helped develop the early stages of a Fixed Income Operations team in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2019, she was invited to be part of the inaugural class of the Virtual Engagement Associate (VEA) program in Purchase, New York. Shortly thereafter, she earned her place as a leader and spent three years building and managing the Virtual Engagement Associate program, helping quickly make it the Firm’s fastest-growing department.

As of June 2022, Emily holds the title of Business Service Officer for the Middleton, Massachusetts, branch, where she focuses on leadership activities, such as developing and coaching her direct reports, while building and executing strategies that support complex-wide initiatives. She strives to lead and manage with her efficient work ethic, timely performance, and proactive execution of goals and projects. In her spare time, Emily is an avid reader and has a deep passion for gardening. She received her BA in Economics from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and holds her Series 7, 66, 24, 9, and 10 licenses.

About Ryan Dobbert

Ryan Dobbert is a Vice President and Market Business Service Officer for Morgan Stanley’s Coastal New England Market and works out of the Middleton, Massachusetts, office. He has extensive industry experience, having been working in the Financial Services sector for over 15 years. He started his career at Merrill Lynch as a Financial Advisor through 2009. Upon joining Morgan Stanley, he worked as the Business Service Manager in Middleton before transitioning to his current role.

Prior to entering the industry, Ryan graduated with a B.S. in Management from the University of Florida. He is the father of two young children – his daughter, Riley, and his son, Henry. While not in the office, Ryan enjoys staying active, particularly through triathlons, jujitsu, and bowling.

About Giancarlo Pannone

Giancarlo Pannone is a Vice President and the Financial Planning Director for Morgan Stanley's Rhode Island offices, covering both the Providence and Newport branches. Prior to joining the Firm in 2022, Giancarlo earned his bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College and was a Financial Advisor at Raymond James and an Investment Specialist and Financial Solutions Advisor at Merrill Lynch. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and holds his Series 7, Series 66, and Life and Health producer's licenses.

A native of Warwick, Rhode Island, Giancarlo currently resides in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, with his wife, Katie. While not in the office, he enjoys the great outdoors throughout the year and goes snowboarding, surfing, biking, and hiking.

About Evan Patterson

Evan Patterson is a Private Banker serving Morgan Stanley Wealth Management offices in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New York. Private Bankers partner with Financial Advisors to develop a specialized approach for managing clients’ cash flow, liquidity and financing needs, leveraging our comprehensive suite of cash management and lending
solutions.

Evan began his career in financial services in 1999. Prior to relocating to the Northeast, he served as a Private Banker in the Tampa Bay area. Before joining Morgan Stanley in 2010, Evan spent 10 years in high net worth lending at Merrill Lynch supporting teams in New York City, Los Angeles,
and Jacksonville. He began his career as a Securities Based Lending Officer before rising within the firm, holding several other positions including Priority Loan Officer, Associate Mortgage and Credit Specialist, Consumer Finance Specialist and Banking and Liquidity specialist.

Evan is a graduate of the University of Florida, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentration in Finance. He lives in East Greenwich, Rhode Island with his family. Outside of the office, Evan enjoys painting, watching cinema, reading books, and listening to vinyl records.
