Our Story

“The only constant in life is change.” This old adage is certainly true when it comes to personal finance.

Throughout our lives, the most important events can create seismic upheaval in our financial circumstances – marriage, retirement, the birth of child or grandchild, divorce, and even death.

The Clearwater Group at Morgan Stanley helps our clients prepare for, live through and emerge on the other side of significant life events. Our rigorous, disciplined process puts your goals at the center of every decision. Together, we will create a comprehensive plan that aligns your goals with the strategies needed to achieve them.

Working together, we can help you feel confident about your financial future, so you can focus on the things that are most important to you and bring meaning to your life. It is a commitment to our clients that is the cornerstone of our work.

Our rigorous, disciplined process

To help you meet your short-, medium-, and long-term goals, we have developed a 4-step process that helps us develop all your financial strategies and tactics.

This process is highly structured but also customizable to fit your particular objectives, preferences and time-frame. Broadly, it consists of four stages.

We developed this process to be effective, transparent and comprehensive. It’s the foundation of an appropriate financial strategy.
    Icon Image
    Stage 1: Discover
Each of our clients is unique – we don’t believe in “cookie-cutter” solutions. However, in order to tailor our recommendations to you, we need to understand as much as possible about you. Your financial situation, of course, but also your goals, your family, your beliefs and convictions. What’s most important to you? What keeps you up at night? We will use questions like these to develop our recommendations.
    Icon Image
    Stage 2: Recommend
Once we understand your goals and preferences, we can offer considered and informed advice about appropriate investments and other financial recommendations. During this stage, we will also present a series of “what if” scenarios to help determine the best course of action.
    Icon Image
    Stage 3: Implement
Many of our clients have existing investments and financial instruments in place, most of which were developed independent of each other. Once we’ve developed an overarching strategy for you, we can unify your financial life around your goals, while also accounting for cash flow, tax implications and many other factors.
    Icon Image
    Stage 4: Adjust
Few things in life are constant – your life circumstances evolve, markets adjust, needs and desires change. So it’s important to periodically review progress and adapt to new conditions. We will establish a schedule with you to formally examine where you are today and where you are heading.

6 reasons to choose the Clearwater Group

Choosing a financial advisor often comes down to fit – does the team’s approach, style and values match what you need? Here are some of our points of difference:
    Exceptional Credentials
Our team’s credentials are both distinctive and valuable. “Family Wealth Advisor” means that we understand how to deal with issues affecting families, such as wealth transfer and multi-generational planning. “Investing with Impact Director” means we can align your investment portfolio with your values. Our non-practicing CPA helps you manage both sides of your personal balance sheet. Our knowledge and training can make a difference for you.
    Comprehensive wealth management
We believe that every financial decision, large or small, should be in service of a well-planned strategy. After all, a dollar is a dollar, whether it is earned, saved, spent, generated by investment or preserved via tax mitigation.
    Process driven approach
If you were building a house, you’d start with a plan, select the right materials and choose an experienced, knowledgeable crew. In other words, you’d follow a plan. The same thinking applies to building your own future – our process gives our clients the best chance to succeed.
    Service
Our entire team shares a unwavering commitment to service that is both responsive and proactive. We are available when you need us, with our team of four advisors and experienced support staff.
    Investments that make a difference
More and more, clients want their investments to reflect their personal values. Our Investing with Impact platform offers a variety of ways to put your money where your values are, while still maintaining performance that can help you reach your goals.
    Core Beliefs
We believe in treating clients like we’d want to be treated. We believe in research, and finding answers to every question. We believe in putting our clients first. We believe in being a trusted partner for all our clients. And we believe in living the values we express.

A strategic, comprehensive approach

At the Clearwater Group, we believe that the best way to reach your goals is to have a comprehensive strategy that informs all your financial decisions. We work with you in all areas of wealth management, including (but not limited to) the following:

The goal of a managed portfolio is to provide you with long-term capital appreciation through asset allocation and diversification. This program allows us to gain a full understanding of your investment needs and goals, and create an individualized investment strategy. After your personalized plan has been established, we continue to monitor your portfolio to ensure program satisfaction when compared to your original long-term goals. It is our fiduciary duty, and pleasure, to act in the best interest of you and your family.

About Randy Norris

I bring a lifetime of experience to my role as a wealth management professional. My father was in the U.S. Navy, so we moved a lot when I was young. I got to enjoy many beautiful areas across our country and around the world. By the time I was 14, I had lived in six different locations, including Utah, Connecticut and Scotland. I attended high school in Kennewick, WA and consider this my hometown.

This early experience had a profound impact on my life, teaching me how to adapt quickly to new surroundings and to stay open-minded to new and fresh opportunities. It also gave me a deep appreciation for such values as duty, honor and discipline – three important tenets that serve as the foundation of my financial practice.

I began my career in pharmaceutical sales at Merck & Company. It is here where I discovered my true passion was about directly helping people, rather than through the efforts of a medical practitioner. This experience led me to shift my focus to a profession where I could have a more direct impact on the quality of their lives. I joined Morgan Stanley in 2010 and have been a valuable member of the firm ever since.

Over the years, I have built a successful practice, guiding individuals, families and local organizations in the achievement of their financial goals. One of the most enjoyable parts of my job is working with like-minded clients who value the level of service and skill I deliver. I receive great satisfaction knowing I am making a significant impact on the quality of their lives and I often become one of the most important relationships to their families.

Today, I am privileged to work with a small, yet select group of clients. I take great pride in helping them oversee and manage their finances, so they can take care of the people they love and spend more time pursuing the activities they enjoy. I look forward to hearing your story and learning how I can help you achieve your personal definition of financial success.
