My Story and Services

I began my professional career as a programmer for the Burrough’s Corporation. My programming work led to computer systems design and ultimately to a management level position at a major NY bank auditing their computer systems and their computer code. In 1982 - at the advent of the personal computer, I opened an Apple Computer store and ran that business in various forms over the next 20 years. I knew it was important to focus on retirement savings for both myself and our employees! As such, we put in place a money purchase plan (predecessor to the 401k!) for our employees. We had the responsibility of funding and investing for our employees. This was my first real exposure to the equity and bond markets – I found both interesting and provocative!

After 20 years as a small business owner and entrepreneur – I wanted to take my skills further. As a financial advisor, I could advise clients on investing as well as the many other aspects of good financial health. This transition enabled me to use my life and business experience to become a valued resource for my clients.

I have made my practice my own – through education, financial planning, retirement planning and legacy planning. I begin by learning and understanding the values, goals and priorities of my clients. We then set out to meet these goals in a way that respects the risks they are willing to take. We define success as meeting those goal and priorities. The financial plan becomes the GPS of our voyage.

On a personal note, I live in Armonk, NY with my husband of 47 years, Alan. We have a son. A daughter and 5 granddaughters – all who live in the NY metro area. I love to garden (perennial!) , cook (healthy!) , entertain (friends and family!) and travel (anywhere!). We are regular theatergoers and enjoy productions from Broadway to way-off-the-beaten-path productions.

3Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
