The Brightleaf Group at Morgan Stanley

Our Mission Statement
Experience, intellectual capital and dedicated personal service to help you meet your life goals
Our Clients
The Brightleaf Group, formed more than twenty years ago, came together to address the increasingly complex array of needs our clients were expressing to us. We sought to bring together a group of like-minded, value-focused individuals, each with different areas of interest and experience.
Our belief is that having several individuals, each with different areas of expertise, allows us to understand our clients’ needs more thoroughly, and to propose solutions that not only meet but exceed their wishes.
While every client has a Relationship Manager from within our team, all of the collective resources of the group, encompassing over 200 years of experience, are brought to bear to address any issues that may arise.
We strive to become a valued advocate for our clients by deeply understanding their goals and dreams, then establishing clear and simple strategies to help obtain them. Frequent and open communication, interaction and effective follow through are critical to this endeavor. This will help ensure that we are addressing our client’s current and ever-changing needs as well as planning for future generations.

Meet The Brightleaf Group
About Charles Moehrke Jr.
A long-time lover of puzzles, I enjoy solving complex problems, breaking them down to their individual parts, and then rebuilding them in a logical fashion to produce a positive result. Similarly, I believe that accomplishing favorable outcomes for our clients depends on paying attention to the small details of their lives. Developing a deep understanding of our clients and what is important to them, enables me to organize the pieces with the goal of helping them and their families live enriched and fulfilling lives.
Having begun my collegiate education studying economics at Mercer University in Atlanta, I transferred to Georgia State University, majoring in finance. After three decades of experience helping clients and their families achieve their financial goals, and extensive study in areas such as family dynamics and governance, philanthropy, wealth transfer, business succession planning, taxation and risk management, I earned Morgan Stanley’s Family Wealth Director certification.
I serve on the Board of Advisors for the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University and on the Board of Advisors for the Program in the Humanities and Human Values at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
My wife and I live in Cary, NC. We have three adult children and two grandchildren.

9When Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC, its affiliates and Morgan Stanley Financial Advisors and Private Wealth Advisors (collectively, “Morgan Stanley”) provide “investment advice” regarding a retirement or welfare benefit plan account, an individual retirement account or a Coverdell education savings account (“Retirement Account”), Morgan Stanley is a “fiduciary” as those terms are defined under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, as amended (“ERISA”), and/or the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (the “Code”), as applicable. When Morgan Stanley provides investment education, takes orders on an unsolicited basis or otherwise does not provide “investment advice”, Morgan Stanley will not be considered a “fiduciary” under ERISA and/or the Code. For more information regarding Morgan Stanley’s role with respect to a Retirement Account, please visit www.morganstanley.com/disclosures/dol. Tax laws are complex and subject to change. Morgan Stanley does not provide tax or legal advice. Individuals are encouraged to consult their tax and legal advisors (a) before establishing a Retirement Account, and (b) regarding any potential tax, ERISA and related consequences of any investments or other transactions made with respect to a Retirement Account. Individuals should consult their tax advisor for matters involving taxation and tax planning and their attorney for matters involving trust and estate planning, charitable giving, philanthropic planning and other legal matters.
10The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) aware investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because ESG criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining financial market.
