My Biography

Blake is a Vice President, Portfolio Management Director and Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. He received his Bachelors of Science in Finance from Bentley University in 1993. Blake joined Morgan Stanley Wealth Management in 2007. He has amassed 30 years of investment management and financial consulting experience working with a myriad of corporate executives, business owners, institutions and families seeking assistance with their multi-generational wealth management and legacy planning. He provides comprehensive wealth and portfolio management strategies while fully accounting for the unique circumstances of each individual client or family.

Upon graduating from Bentley University, Blake was hired by Olde Investments, where he worked for a year on the equity and fixed income trading floor in Detroit, Michigan. This invaluable experience cemented a solid foundation in his transition from academia to the "real world," while allowing him to better understand how global capital markets operate. The following year, he continued working at Olde Investments as an Investment Advisor in their Wellesley, Massachusetts, office.

He later transitioned to his position as a Financial Advisor and Retirement Planning Consultant at UBS PaineWebber in Boston for 10 years, before settling in at his current location at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.

As a Vermont native, Blake grew up enjoying the outdoors and taking frequent family trips to Boston. When it was time to consider colleges and universities, the Boston area was a natural attraction for him. After college and a year in Michigan, he settled back to Massachusetts. He now resides in Westborough, Massachusetts, with his three children. Blake is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys skiing, hiking, snowmobiling, scuba diving in addition to watching movies and traveling. His passions include sports, muscle and classic cars, sampling wine or scotch, tending to his garden and attending his kids' sports games and musical performances.

He is a sponsor and participates in various local and international charity events for organizations including Hope for Children Worldwide, Ducks Unlimited, MS Ride, Smile Train and various food pantries and land trusts. Working With You

When engaging with a new client I like to ensure they know what to expect. Below is the process I follow when I being to work with and onboard a new client.
    Icon Image
    Step One: Meet and Greet
Our first introduction will be a casual one. I like to take the time to learn about you and your goals and connect on a personal level before jumping into things. During this meeting I will ask you about your values and what your needs are – essentially, what lead to scheduling this meeting. During this meeting I’ll also tell you a little bit about myself and, hopefully, we will both agree that we will work well together.
    Icon Image
    Step Two: Assess Your Situation
During this meeting we’ll look at your unique situation. We will drill into the nuts and bolts of your sources of income, expenses, assets and liabilities and after our meeting I will develop a plan unique to your needs and goals.
    Icon Image
    Step Three: Plan Implementation
I will create a plan and present it to you. When you agree to entrust me with your assets, we’ll begin to take care of logistical next steps, like account transfers and paperwork. We will also establish expectations for how hands-on or hands-off you want to be in the day-to-day details of your account.
    Icon Image
    Step Four: Continuous Monitoring
I understand and appreciate that your situation can change quickly. Your goals or finances down the road may be different from what we discussed when you first became a client. I will be sure to regularly check-in to ensure your plan stays on track and relevant to your current situation.

7An investment in an exchange-traded fund (ETF) involves risks similar to those of investing in a broadly based portfolio of equity securities traded on exchange in the relevant securities market, such as market fluctuations caused by such factors as economic and political developments, changes in interest rates and perceived trends in stock prices. The investment return and principal value of ETF investments will fluctuate, so that an investor’s ETF shares, if or when sold, may be worth more or less than the original cost.

Investors should carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) before investing. The prospectus contains this and other information about the ETF. To obtain a prospectus, contact your Financial Advisor or visit the ETF company’s website. 14Physical precious metals are non-regulated products. Precious metals are speculative investments, which may experience short-term and long-term price volatility. The value of precious metals investments may fluctuate and may appreciate or decline, depending on market conditions. If sold in a declining market, the price you receive may be less than your original investment. Unlike bonds and stocks, precious metals do not make interest or dividend payments. Therefore, precious metals may not be appropriate for investors who require current income. Precious metals are commodities that should be safely stored, which may impose additional costs on the investor. The Securities Investor Protection Corporation (“SIPC”) provides certain protection for customers’ cash and securities in the event of a brokerage firm’s bankruptcy, other financial difficulties, or if customers’ assets are missing. SIPC protection does not apply to precious metals or other commodities.

19Investors should consider many factors before deciding which 529 plan is appropriate. Some of these factors include: the Plan’s investment options and the historical investment performance of these options, the Plan’s flexibility and features, the reputation and expertise of the Plan’s investment manager, Plan contribution limits and the federal and state tax benefits associated with an investment in the Plan. Some states, for example, offer favorable tax treatment and other benefits to their residents only if they invest in the state’s own Qualified Tuition Program. Investors should determine their home state’s tax treatment of 529 plans when considering whether to choose an in-state or out-of-state plan. Investors should consult with their tax or legal advisor before investing in any 529 Plan or contact their state tax division for more information. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC does not provide tax and/or legal advice. Investors should review a Program Disclosure Statement, which contains more information on investment options, risk factors, fees and expenses and possible tax consequences.
