About Daniel Whyman

Dan has over 43 years of experience in the financial industry. He began his career at Merrill Lynch in August 1981. In 1992, Dan started managing portfolios at Smith Barney through their portfolio management program.

Dan’s focus has been specifically in equity research with emphasis on individual large capitalization stocks. Dan is cognizant of portfolio management theory and diversification in building out portfolios. Over the years, Dan has gathered extensive knowledge from around Wall Street and independent sources and through this has developed many industry contacts to source.

He has extensive experience in buying individual municipal bonds, building bond ladders, and a deep understanding of call features and credit quality. In addition to this, Dan has substantial experience in alternative investments, including private equity, real estate, hedge funds, and credit structures.

Dan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University and a master’s degree from Washington University.

Dan's hobbies include, traveling, playing golf, coin collecting, going on walks along the ocean, swimming, and philanthropy.

Dan enjoys spending time with his family, especially his wife Jennifer, their three children and three grandchildren.
