Making an Impact
  • Paul Winn was awarded Morgan Stanley’s “Community Impact” Award in 2013 for his longstanding commitment to the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic, a Montgomery, Alabama tradition for over 70 years. Perhaps the most unique feature of the Blue Gray is the southern hospitality it offers. Tennis fans across Montgomery open up their homes to welcome and house the NCAA collegiate players throughout the tournament. Life-long friendships have developed between players and host families. A tennis veteran himself, Paul worked tirelessly as the Chairman of the Blue Gray Classic for 12 years, organizing, promoting and fundraising. He and his family continue to support the event, which is set to take place February 20-22, 2020.

About Travis Paul Winn

Travis P. Winn
Vice President
Financial Planning Specialist
Financial Advisor

A second-generation Financial Advisor, Travis works alongside his father, Paul, in managing their family wealth management practice. Together, they enjoy working with financially successful individuals and families, providing highly personalized advice through a disciplined process. Travis focuses on helping clients achieve their short- and long-term goals, which often include planning for education costs and a successful retirement.

Growing up in a household dedicated to serving the needs of local families and government leaders, Travis hoped that someday he too would become a financial advisor like his father, helping clients achieve financial success.
After graduating from the University of Alabama where he majored in Finance, Travis began his career as a Marketing Associate at Cornerstone Investment Partners. Four years later, he joined his father’s practice and officially formed The Winn Group. Today, they both enjoy working closely as a team to help their clients achieve their personal and professional goals.

As a Financial Planning Specialist and Financial Advisor, Travis guides his clients on the growth and preservation of their assets, while providing for current income and cash flow needs. His comprehensive process focuses on articulating each client’s needs, goals and challenges. This information then serves as the foundation for the development and implementation of a custom financial plan. His ultimate goal is to help clients keep more of what they earn through smart investment decisions and an attention to driving down fees and expenses. As a millennial, Travis is very experienced at teaching his generation about the responsibilities of wealth and providing strong stewardship of their parent’s legacy.

A native of Montgomery, Travis met his beautiful wife, Marlee, at a wedding six years ago. They were married in 2018 and have two baby girls, Annalee, who was born in 2019 and Margot, who was born in 2022. Away from the office, Travis is a true outdoorsman. His favorite activities include golf, gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and yellow Labrador, Ellie.

About Paul Winn

Paul D. Winn, CFP®, CIMA®
Senior Vice President
Senior Portfolio Manager
Family Wealth Director

Paul brings a lifetime of experience to his role as a Senior Portfolio Manager and Family Wealth Director at Morgan Stanley. For more than 30 years, he has been serving the specialized needs of financially successful individuals, families and government agencies in Montgomery and surrounding areas. He enjoys helping clients solve their financial challenges, delivering thoughtful and objective advice for life’s most important milestones.

Paul learned the importance of saving and the power of compounding at an early age. His mother taught him that saving a penny was the same as making a penny. As a result, saving smartly and seeking bargains has always been a part of Paul’s DNA. He was drawn to the financial services industry as a way of passing along the wisdom of his mother.

After earning his B.S. degree in Accounting from Auburn University, Paul worked as a CPA before joining a multinational Fortune 500 company as an Internal Auditor, eventually becoming the Director of Internal Audit. It is here where Paul discovered his desire to work more closely with individuals and families. He joined Morgan Stanley in 1988 as a Financial Advisor and over the next 31 years built a successful practice. Today, he enjoys working side-by-side with his son, Travis, educating clients about important financial concepts and helping to make a meaningful impact on the quality of their lives.

Throughout his career, Paul has amassed an impressive list of educational credentials, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to a world-class client experience. He holds the Certified Financial PlannerTM and Certified Investment Management Analyst® designations and obtained his M.B.A. from the University of Alabama. In 2019, he earned Morgan Stanley’s distinguished Family Wealth Director designation. This credential – achieved by less than four percent of the firm’s advisors – places him among a small group of advisors who are uniquely qualified to serve the sophisticated needs of ultra-high net worth families.

Paul’s passion for helping clients is equaled only by his dedication to his community and his family. An avid tennis player, Paul is actively involved in The Blue Gray National Collegiate Tennis Classic. This event is the oldest ongoing sporting event in Montgomery, dating back to 1949. His team is also very active in supporting the Food Bank, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts.

Outside of the office, Paul enjoys playing tennis and golf weekly and bass fishing almost every weekend. His life centers on a love for his family. He and his wife, Connie, have been married since
1983 . Their son, Travis and his wife Marlee, recently added a beautiful daughter to the family – Annalee.
