The first and perhaps most important step in our investment process is to understand your comprehensive financial situation. We need to know your needs, goals, desires, risk tolerance, and time horizon in addition to your income, investment holdings and liquidity needs in order to design an appropriate financial roadmap to help you meet your goals.

Plan

Using an understanding of your stated goals and financial picture, we will develop a financial plan and asset allocation to best help accomplish your goals within the guidelines of your risk tolerance.  As your life conditions and needs change, we will work with you to adapt your plan to help you meet your changing needs.

Portfolio Management

We use our Portfolio Management program to help you meet your unique goals.  We serve as the Portfolio Manager on several different investment styles.  The discretionary nature of this program enables us to act quickly in response to changing market conditions.  Portfolio Management clients enjoy personalized service and easy access to us, the professionals responsible for managing their investments.

About John Piper

John was born and raised in Michigan and graduated with honors in 1982 from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. After graduation he joined Manufacturers Bank in Detroit as a credit analyst. John moved to Florida in 1985 and joined Morgan Stanley predecessor firm Dean Witter Reynolds as a financial advisor in 1987. He has been at the same firm since then, becoming a Senior Vice President in 2008. John has focused his business in recent years on Discretionary Portfolio Management, becoming a Portfolio Manager in 2005, a Portfolio Management Director in 2012 and a Senior Portfolio Management Director in 2022. This is where he believes he can best serve clients and add value to the overall relationship.

John has been married to his beautiful wife Patti since 1985 and resides in Sarasota. They have children Jessica and Michael and four grandchildren Joshua, Evan, Isla and Crew. John enjoys an active and healthy lifestyle including working out, bicycling, skiing and mountain climbing. He also enjoys spending time at homes in Northern Michigan and Jackson, Wyoming.

About Michael D Matash

Michael graduated from The Florida Institute of Technology with a Bachelor degree in Aviation Management-Flight in 2003. After graduating he was a flight instructor for several years before attaining his first airline pilot job at ColganAir. Less than a year later Michael was hired by SkyWest Airlines, where he finished the remainder of his time in the airline industry flying passenger jets. For many years he travelled the country and created many lifelong memories. After getting married and starting a family, Michael decided to seek new opportunities which landed him in the field of professional wealth management. Michael, already a student of the financial market, found many similarities between two very different industries, both requiring risk management at the highest level. Michael was honored to join the Twenty7 North Group at Morgan Stanley in January of 2011. The beginning of a new decade was perfect timing to start a new chapter in life.
Michael’s beautiful wife is named Lynda. They have three children together – Isla, Crew, and one of whom happens to be an English Retriever named Scout. Michael and Lynda love traveling out West, visiting family in Michigan, and spending time on the water. Michael continues to remain an avid airman and appreciates the opportunity to view the world from above. You may also find him enjoying the waves at the local surf break.

Michael’s main objective is to help his clients have the smoothest financial voyage possible through customized and fiduciary investment management. He specializes in helping aviation industry professionals navigate unique challenges in an ever-changing environment.

About Susan Kelly

Susan, a Chicago native, graduated from Western Illinois University with honors in 1977 and started her career in the corporate world, first as customer service for the office of the CEO, later into compliance for a major pharmaceutical company.

In 2005 Susan and her husband Victor moved to Sarasota, where she became a client specialist and earned her Series 7 and 66. Soon after, Susan was promoted to Client Specialist Supervisor for two branches at a financial company. In 2018, Susan was recruited by The Twenty7 North Group at Morgan Stanley and became a Financial Advisor. Susan became a member of the Pacesetters Club in 2020 - 2025 and was part of Sarasota Magazine's Women of Influence Event in Sept 2020. Since Susan has worked both sides of the client experience, her number one goal is that of total client satisfaction. She wants to help her clients reach their financial goals, grow and preserve their wealth and leave a lasting financial legacy. In Susan's spare time, she likes teaching fitness at the local YMCA and visiting with her three children and twin grandsons.

About Erin Burnett

Erin was born and raised in Oregon. In 2005, she began her career in the investment industry with Merrill Lynch. Over the next 5 years, Erin progressed in her career by obtaining her Series 7 and Series 66 securities licenses and advanced into the positions of Registered Client Service Associate and Branch Manager’s Assistant. Erin was recruited to join Morgan Stanley as a Senior Registered Associate in 2011. Within the first year, she earned her Financial Planning Specialist certification. In 2016, Erin achieved her long-time goal of escaping the cold Oregon winters by transferring to Sarasota to join The Twenty7 North Group at Morgan Stanley. Since moving to Florida, Erin has broadened her knowledge base by passing the Series 9 and Series 10 securities exams. Erin was also selected to be a Complex Service Coach, which provided her with the opportunity expand her skills and serve as a key resource to clients and over 60 colleagues in the Southwest Florida region for over 3 years. Erin was promoted to the role of Portfolio Associate in 2019, followed by a promotion to Wealth Management Associate in 2024.

In Erin’s spare time she enjoys traveling, going to concerts, amusement parks and exploring Florida's beaches and nature preserves.
