Our Story: A New Era in Family Wealth Management
The world of family offices and wealth management has evolved—and so have we. At True North 360, we didn't set out to build another legacy wealth management business; we set out to build something entirely different. Our approach is contemporary, dynamic, and purpose-built for the modern era. We understand that times have changed, and so have the needs of ultra-high-net-worth families, founders, and rising stars. We're not just responding to those changes; we're leading the way with a fresh perspective and a commitment to innovation that's built to last.
True North 360 was founded on a singular vision: to redefine the private wealth experience by configuring your unique true north at the core of everything we do. Our journey began with a realization that traditional wealth management often overlooks the most important aspect—understanding the family behind the wealth. Our founders, seasoned professionals in family enterprises, entrepreneurship, sports, and C-Suite executive planning envisioned a new approach: one that combines sophisticated financial strategies with a deeply personal touch.
The True North 360 Difference:
Simply told, True North 360 is about expressing range in our outside the box thinking and problem solving. True North 360 is a practice that aspires to elevate your experience through unmatched service and a commitment to excellence in all that we do. From our leadership team to our support professionals, we are dedicated to managing the complexities and shifting needs of our ultra-high net worth clients in an evolving world where wealth creation is rapidly expanding and diversifying. Because the ever shifting dynamics of wealth creation, the "who", the "what" and "where" of our client population requires us to constantly evolve and improve the way we work, we are keen on sharpening your focus and providing you with a directional edge, all the while remaining adaptive to the changing circumstances of your life. We operate under the simple, yet often overlooked principle, that relationships come first and everything else comes, well, second. It is our strong belief that the common denominator in our team's storied history is centered entirely around you, the client. The attention you give your family, your business or your professional career is exceptional, and what is important to you, is important to us. True North 360 is built on two founding principles that define the "why" behind our business. The term True North speaks to your unique values, goals, and the direction you want to steer your life. This is coupled with our 360-degree approach to encompass your entire financial picture and provide the comprehensive resources needed to make these visions a reality. No matter what you're looking to achieve, our team will work diligently to deliver the best of the firm and provide experienced counsel in support of these important decisions.
Why Us: Driven to Help You Pursue Your True North
We see the whitespace. Our clients extend to all areas of the M&A spectrum, including public and private founders, emerging private equity and venture capital funds, and the principals and partners driving their funds' growth. Core to our approach is carving out an edge, by positioning as a bridge between the private ecosystem and the influential industry leaders that back families, funds and founders.
We founded True North 360 in 2001 to help connect the most relentlessly ambitious investors to the capital and resources that they need to succeed, and we strive to offer you the same care and connection. We refer to our model as pathway driven, in that there are numerous points of entry for us to lead our relationships through an entire client journey, both on the business and personal side, such as through corporate cash management, lending solutions, block trades or private market access.
To us, abundance is not an end state, but your True North, providing an aspiring foundation for continued success. Simply told, True North 360 is about expressing range in the outside, and inside the box, problem solving. Because the ever-shifting dynamics of wealth creation, the "who", the "what" and "where" of our client population requires us to constantly evolve and improve the way we work, we are keen on sharpening your focus and providing you with a directional edge, all the while remaining adaptive to the changing circumstances of your life.
The story of True North 360 began long before the company was even conceived, rooted in Kathy's early days volunteering at the YWCA. It was there that she first discovered the importance of empowering others—offering not just support but also strategic guidance to help them find their own paths. This experience planted the seed for what would later grow into a business founded on the principles of service, purpose, and vision.
As Kathy's career progressed, she recognized a growing need for financial stewardship among well-to-do families. She started her own business, initially focusing on helping these families navigate the complexities of wealth. But as wealth creation evolved, so did the business. Entrepreneurs and athletes began turning to Kathy, seeking the same thoughtful guidance that had resonated with her earliest clients. And as the challenges grew more complex, so did the solutions True North 360 offered.
Over time, Kathy's family joined the business, with each member bringing new ideas, energy, and fresh perspectives. This infusion of talent mirrored the evolution of the company itself—adapting to the needs of a new generation of clients while maintaining the steadfast values that had been there from the beginning. The company expanded its reach, helping entrepreneurs scale their businesses, guiding athletes through life-changing contracts, and bringing strategic insight to sponsors and GPs looking for long-term value creation.
What sets True North 360 apart isn't just its ability to navigate wealth management for high-performing individuals and families—it's the way the firm sequences, orders, and guides each unique journey. It is in finding the whitespace, and asking the more nuanced questions, that enables the team to thoughtfully curate a range of creative solutions, resources, and expertise. We bring together diverse perspectives and roles, not to specialize in a single area, but to oversee that each step of the journey is thoughtfully planned and expertly executed. Like all athletes and entrepreneurs can appreciate, a high performing team is much greater than any one high performing individual.
True North 360 has evolved into a team of rising talent, high-caliber professionals playing at the top of their game. Whether it's guiding a family office through generational wealth transitions, helping a founder navigate a liquidity event, or advising a General Partner on private market investments, the team exhibits a rare combination of old-school grit and new-world thinking. This marriage of generations is reflected in both the team's process and philosophy—combining time-tested practices with innovative, forward-looking ideas.
Today, True North 360 is not just a family business; it's an enterprise of high performing teammates with certifications, designations, and decade's worth of combined experience in wealth management, dedicated to guiding others. Our strength lies in our range and the ability to deliver deeply personalized, yet broadly applicable, strategies. We understand that specialization may not always be the answer. Instead, it's the sequencing of actions, the ordering of priorities, and the guidance we provide that ensures long-term success for our clients. Our diversity of thought and perspective only enhances the 360-degree approach and enables our processes to welcome differentiated thinking and dialogue within the team. With every decision, every conversation, we are helping our clients navigate their futures, empowering them to build lasting legacies.

Our process is designed to move many levers slowly and methodically at distinct moments. Timing, combining and sequencing become imperative operative functions in defining what needs of yours should be addressed first, always with the end of your definitional abundance, in mind. Our tax, trust and estate planning process, our Morgan Stanley platform socialization process, and our pre-liquidity planning process require us to formulate a problem, which gets to the heart of our approach. The power of the questioning phase. The more data and signals we can capture in fully understanding you, your family, your goals and your mindset, the closer we can reach a full data set to guide decision making and recommendations. By collecting a robust data set, we can help you find the white space in between all the business and personal wealth interactions.
Our process is grounded in seeing the white space, which then becomes your True North. There are no best practices that we deploy across the board, but rather, an intentional curiosity which helps us find alignment and authenticity, together. It is not unusual for our clients to think they wanted one thing, to only find after deep thought and interaction that there was actually a much more meaningful end goal or approach that spoke to their values and aspirations. In other words, clients look to us as a soundboard and place to contemplate. Amidst the hustle and bustle, we offer a quiet place to stop chasing and slow down.
We know there are low quality client experiences, archaic processes and high fees, making it difficult for you to build meaningful wealth or capital. So we spent years redefining our value proposition to our clients, which started with retaining as much of our legacy and history as possible, while integrating innovative and adaptive approaches to our service model to account for our evolving clients and their increasingly inspiring pursuits. There are many ways we do business on our platform, and equipping you with the tools and service model that fits your needs becomes foundational to your experience.
Achieving abundance and finding white space is less about best practices and including more techniques, and more about slowing down, deeply understanding problems, valuing critical feedback and paving the way for your individual trajectory. Planning begins with understanding your point of view, how you see the world, who you show up as and what imprint or impact you want to leave in the world. Once we map what is important to you, we begin crafting a relationship model that works best for you. Whether it is estate planning, tax mitigation, portfolio construction, co-investing or philanthropy that interests you, we begin carving out an edge by positioning ourselves as the bridge between influential capital and decision makers. After all, what is important to you is important to us.
True North 360: A Distinctive Approach to Portfolio Construction and Risk Management
Most phenomena that cluster around a central value, form the familiar bell shaped curve with the probability of a given observation peaking at the center and trailing off toward the extremes, or tails. Investment risk is largely invisible before the fact – except perhaps to people with unusual insight.
People usually expect the future to be like the past and underestimate the potential for change. That's why we developed a model. One which allows us to phase capital thoughtfully into the market to mitigate behavioral and timing biases while keeping an eye under the hood for risk factors and undesired risk exposures in the portfolio.
We strive to foster a culture of continuous improvement. That means an environment that welcomes new ideas of all types and from all team members. We have deliberately carved out time on our calendars to brainstorm, recognizing that the innovation process is just that – a process. Of course, we must be disciplined as we pursue new ideas, but we believe that the best investments often come from high conviction, contrarian views.
While our evolution as an investment organization materializes, we are confident that new technologies will play a central role. Modernizing our investing activities using software, data analytics and artificial intelligence to enhance our sourcing, decision making and ability to add value to portfolios. With a growing team an access to all the phenomenal resources that Morgan Stanley has to offer, we can and will build technology and data systems that most other institutions simply cannot.
In our business, people matter most. We strive to be the partner to the most inspired investors in the world, be the place where the most talented investors seek to work, and be the team that makes a global institution feel like a bespoke navigator. All of this with the intention to generate excellent risk adjusted returns to support your aspirations.
To maintain our edge in today's competitive landscape comes down to creating harmony between a few constituencies, as follows: People, process, performance. Our investment partners internally and externally have formed the backbone of our success, and we have high conviction that they will continue to present opportunities with both legacy moats and disruptive opportunities. This is the bedrock of our investment approach: Utilizing a nexus of the world's most talented professionals and research analysts to define, screen and uncover value and growth based opportunities. Our team seeks informational advantages and asymmetries to capture through market signals, but it is in the strategic thinking, consistent discipline and team based approach that we feel most confident in the way we can frame our investment universe.
Our Growth: From Families to Sports, Entertainment, and First-Time Family Offices
As our clients' needs grew more complex, so did the services we offered. What began with wealth management for traditional multi-generational families soon expanded into the world of sports and entertainment, working closely with high-profile clients in fields like hockey, tennis, football, and soccer. Many of these clients have taken their first steps into setting up their own family offices—a monumental decision that requires careful planning and expertise. Whether it's helping first-time family offices establish the right structure or working with established multi-generational family offices on everything from governance to impact investing, True North 360 offers the full range of services to ensure family legacies are built with care.
Our sports and entertainment clients require specialized attention. From navigating the lump sum payments of endorsement deals and sponsorship agreements to overseeing that contracts, assets, and investments are managed thoughtfully we offer the tools needed to manage complex, high-profile portfolios while protecting their privacy and enhancing their long-term security.
Expanding into the World of Sponsors, Funds, and Prime Brokerage Services
True North 360's evolution didn't stop with families and sports. As we expanded our practice , we began working with private equity sponsors, venture capital funds, and hedge funds, offering customized services based on the rapidly evolving customer needs and focus.
We work with general partners (GPs) and fund managers to provide everything from prime brokerage services to fund administration, making sure they have the infrastructure they need to focus on what they do best: growing their capital and investments. 1Investing in the market entails the risk of market volatility. The value of all types of investments may increase or decrease over varying time periods. The returns on a portfolio consisting primarily of sustainable or impact investments may be lower or higher than a portfolio that is more diversified or where decisions are based solely on investment considerations. Because sustainability and impact criteria exclude some investments, investors may not be able to take advantage of the same opportunities or market trends as investors that do not use such criteria.
