    Our Philosophy

To Us, It's the Relationship that Matters
While there are certainly similarities among the individuals we choose to work with, there are of course many more differences. We acknowledge those differences and use them as a foundation upon which to build a relationship with you that can help define and strengthen your wealth management strategies.

The development of a customized strategy must take into account the various aspects of your financial life—your goals, financial objectives, and the issues and people that are important to you. We spend considerable time and effort developing robust strategies designed to endure market fluctuations, while still addressing your performance expectations and risk tolerance. Our in-depth understanding of you allows us to build a strong relationship with you, which we believe is an important foundation for the advice and guidance we offer.

As your dedicated team of Morgan Stanley advisors, we work steadily to foster a strong, evolving relationship with you. Our disciplined and structured, process-driven approach is designed to help you preserve your wealth now and in the future.

    Customized Strategies

Clarity, Customization and Global Resources Help Define Your Strategy
As economic and financial market conditions change, so may your own financial situation. By blending strategies, we continually refine the wealth management approach that works best for you. We frequently turn to Morgan Stanley Research, which identifies and evaluates fresh investment opportunities that can affect many aspects of your
financial life.

In addition, we rely on the insight provided by the Firm's Global Investment Manager Analysis, whose rigorous due diligence of third-party money managers from around the world helps ensure that they meet Morgan Stanley's stringent standards. Once we have their recommendations, we track investment managers' performance to see that they align with your objectives, time frame, liquidity needs and risk tolerance.

One of the ways we can customize your wealth management strategy is by examining your goals and financial objectives from a variety of different perspectives. These include:

    • Balance sheet review (net worth analysis)
    • Access to credit and lending solutions
    • Estate planning strategies
    • Tax-minimization strategies
    • Correlation analysis and other risk minimizing efforts (standard deviation, alpha)
    • Tracking progress by means of a sophisticated process of periodic portfolio reviews

The Global Investment Manager Analysis (GIMA) Services Only Apply to Certain Investment Advisory Programs GIMA evaluates certain investment products for the purposes of some – but not all – of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC's investment advisory programs (as described in more detail in the applicable Form ADV Disclosure Document for Morgan Stanley Wealth Management). 9Alternative Investments are speculative and include a high degree of risk. An investor could lose all or a substantial amount of his/her investment. Alternative investments are appropriate only for qualified, long-term investors who are willing to forgo liquidity and put capital at risk for an indefinite period of time.

10Structured Investments are complex and not appropriate for all investors. An investment in structured investments involves risks. These risks can include but are not limited to: fluctuations in the price, level or yield of underlying asset(s), interest rates, currency values and credit quality, substantial loss of principal, limits on participation in appreciation of underlying asset(s), limited liquidity, credit risk, and/or conflicts of interest. Many structured investments do not pay interest or guarantee a return above principal at maturity. Investors should read the security’s offering documentation prior to making an investment decision.

11Participating in a new issue/syndicate is subject to availability. IPOs are highly speculative and may not be appropriate for all investors because they lack a stock-trading history and usually involve smaller and newer companies that tend to have limited operating histories, less-experienced management teams, and fewer products or customers. Also, the offering price of an IPO reflects a negotiated estimate as to the value of the company, which may bear little relationship to the trading price of the securities, and it is not uncommon for the closing price of the shares shortly after the IPO to be well above or below the offering price.
